Milk spraying out -- over supply?

When I breastfeed one of my breasts always sprays out lots of milk, at which point my baby will pull off the nipple, get sprayed all over her face, and get a bit unhappy. It's v messy and unpleasant, and always only one breast. The other one seems perfectly balanced. Is there any way to stop this? I have tried block feeding and also alternating sides etc. Thanks

I get that if I'm a bit engorged, think it's just let down? Only answer is to be armed with a muslin afaik then relatch asap.

Mine is 3 1/2 weeks though so there might be a better way!

If it's really bad, maybe express some off first?

My LO is nearly 17 weeks and this happens almost daily! It usually is the right hand boob. It happened every feed for a couple of weeks then my supply settled down. Muslin at the ready is my advice too and also now my LO seems to feed through it but she does clamp down to try to control the flow which usually needs a relatch as it's a bit sore.

I tried block feeding after reading about over supply on kellymom website which helped a bit at its height.

exactly the same here, 7 week old too! I thought it'd settle down soon...

I had the same due to over supply and fast let down. Block feeding really helped.

I saw this as a bonus Blush

DS pulled off and a load went up his nose. I keep reading that newborns don't have much memory but it seemed to teach him that pulling off wasn't a good idea Grin

It could be that you have a fast flow and that you have lots of milk! Try biological nursing, where you position baby as though she's sitting on your lap as you lean back- it'll slow the flow right down and help her control.
My DD used to get sprayed and even make choking noises poor thing!
