Best sling for breast feeding?

I've been looking at the reviews of slings on here, but there are very few comments on whether they are good for bf your DC while out and about.

Can anyone recommend one that is good for this? And maybe a silly question but does it matter if you have saggy boobs or not when considering buying a sling?

I've seen lots of You Tube videos showing women bf in their slings, or giving tips on how to.

However, I've yet to be able to contort myself or DD enough to achieve this enough to let me have both hands free :( She's 4 months now, and I've tried in a Kari Me (a stretchy fabric wrap) and in a ring sling.

I don't think saggy boobs is much of a worry/benefit... not sure though... mine are 36C and I'm refusing to say if they might be saggy!

I never got the hang of it in a stretchy wrap, but have seen others do it.

I've got a Manduca, and it's a complete doddle to feed in. Think Ergo should be similar, but no personal experience. Shift baby round to one side, loosen straps, voila. It is easier if you have a feeding top, or one you pull down to get at boob.

I think big / saggy boobs might help in that you might be able to move boob to baby instead of baby to boob. I'm 36C too.

Re previous post - I've got a 2 month old and have just gotthe hang of feeding in my ergo with the newborn insert.

You have to be really careful breastfeeding in a sling - make sure the baby is still well positioned, head high, and so you can see their nose and check their airways are clear. It might be better just with an older baby.

Ring slings seem easiest IME, especially for a small baby (under 6 months). There's a knack to it, best thing is to get someone to show you in person, rather than trying with youtube videos etc.

Soft Structured carriers are easy enough as you just loosen them enough to manouver your boob into place, not very discreet though!

I never managed bf in a Moby with DD1, but did with DD2 - once you've got the hang it's great. feeding tops make it a lot easier.

I now feed DD2 in a Rose and Rebellion very easily.

never fed newborn in sling but from about 10 weeks found baby bjorn easiest to loosen and pull up quickly and smoothly (you need this running after 2 year old at park). However not good for babys hip development and not that comfy once bit older but good for reflux! Now I use ergo but find it much tricker to adjust myslf and is not as smooth or quick. Also now baby 10 months and becoming too tall! Emei I found similar and slightly easier than ergo. Haven't tired others. Oh except mei tais- okay but not that quick to adjust. stretchy wraps really difficult imo- bit easier when younger.

I only ever wrap, I make my own from jersey and fleece. I've managed to breastfeed in them, starting from premature. I'm a 34H and never had any problems with my boobs being too big. It might be worth having a try at home before you go out to get the hang of it - I once fed my baby in a mobility scooter going around ZSL on a rainy April day and felt rather exposed, got my husband to check and I wasn't at all, so could have done with a mirror that day Xmas Wink
