Anybody breast feeding whilst pregnant?

I'm 20 weeks pregnant, DS is 30 months and has a feed to sleep most nights. Sometimes an additional one if he is under the weather etc.

Anyone else in similar boat that I could ask a few questions to please?!

hello am just 10 wks pg but also have a 30 month old DD who up to now has been a boob addict - needing to feed to sleep and still feeding as and when she wants to. sadly it has tailed off in last week or so (not helped by my sore bits i think) so i am feeling a bit guilty that she is stopping, although i always wanted her to self wean. how are you finding feeding whilst pg?

I'm 37 weeks with a 28 DD who was down to bedtime and breakfast feed but has been all over me the last week (ill & teeth) so feel like I'm feeding a newborn again.

Do you take any other supplements? Had a panic last night that baby might not b getting enough nutrients as an still bf? I am trying to stop and cut down (but it's soooo hard) but have been feeling very very tired throughout this pregnancy.

Feeding wise, it is now quite painful. I actually wince each time he latches on. Sharp teeth don't help!

Was also wondering how bf affects mile supply for newborn? Am trying to stop in next couple of months so I can at least have a little break in between but if I don't manage it will the milk be there for newborn? Sorry if these are stupid questions but had a moment of panic when I realised I hadn't thought of the impact of still bf Confused

Thanks for all your replies btw

I was pregnant with DD2 when DD1 was 3 months old, I breastfed DD1 until she was about 11 months when she ate well and was no longer interested. DD2 was born a few weeks later and was fully breastfed. Your body is capable of dealing with this the baby will be just fine as long as you try your best to keep healthy.

Not stupid questions at all! There is lots of useful info on kellymom site, and someone recommended a book - think it was called adventures in tandem feeding or something like that. I think as long as you are sensible and eat and drink well your body should provide everything it needs for all of you!

I BF during pregnancy, seems like a lifetime ago but it was only 2 years. Yes, the book is called Adventures in Tandem Nursing and it is very good- in depth without being too scary. It also has stuff about weaning during pregnancy if you decide on that.

A lot of mothers now tandem feed with no problems. it's not for everyone but it is do-able, just so you know your options :)

Thanks for replies - my main concerns are that in this pregnancy I am struggling to eat well - cheese sandwiches and weetabix have been my staple foods... I have to force myself to eat meat/fish, veg and fruit. Am worried that my intake of 'good' food is poor. Will check out that website you have mentioned thanks.

I suppose deep down, I don't want to tandem feed...Blush I planned on stopping bf at 18 months but, um, just never got round to it....

Mince pies, I have just had my second baby and was breastfeeding my DS who is now 27 months old until I was 6 months pregnant. I was in exactly the same position, I nursed him to sleep....and he fed during the day as well.

I bought the tandem breastfeeding book but nature instead intervened, gradually my milk depleted and my DS was drinking more and eventually, to my absolute amazement dropped the evening feed! I could not believe it, we had a story and cuddle and off he went to sleep.

Your milk does/ can dry up so you may have little option and your DD will be fine, I couldn't imagine my DS self weaning, he was a guzzler....but he did!
