Why is he doing this is bloody hurts! It doesn't seem to occur at a certain time into the feed and isn't fixed by swapping boobs :( It bloody hurts! I've been letting him do it twice then taking him off the third time, is this ok?

Your very nice letting him do it twice Grin I didn't I used to stop the feed, say no (it's never to early to learn) and put him down. They are meant to learn that by doing it it stops food.

Sounds like a slow let down. Baby will be impatient and pull/tug. It's a phase which passes x

Hyperballad · 11/12/2012 01:30

Yes it's a phase which passes........ Then the head butting the boob starts! :)

ThreeWheelsGood · 11/12/2012 09:23

My baby does this but I thought it was due to FAST let down, she always comes off choking after a few sucks then goes back on. Was hoping it is a phase, she's 7 weeks. It's starting to really hurt and I feel self conscious about feeding in public because of it, she writhes and arches her back too.

DS stopped by about 12 weeks. Now he headbutts and pinches instead.

Brilliant, so it's a phase & something worse will be coming along soon. Kids rock! Hmm

My dd seems to do this when she is windy.. I usually take her off, she does a huge burp and then is fine..

shouldIbecrossaboutthis · 12/12/2012 22:26

Ihatepeas, I have tried winding him, doesn't do anything. I figured out it's more of a right side issue. He has always hated my right boob :(

I tried taking my DS off when he did this - he carried on doing it with a cheeky grin. So, after a few days of ouch and politely removing the baby not working, I shouted 'NO!' at him when he next did it. He pulled off himself (nicely) and screamed, all upset because I'd given him a fright. Worked though. He hasn't done it since!

Ooh I get this too, it's great fun. I also get scratched and nipped sometimes and if she's feeling particularly generous, decides to latch badly a few times.
