Should you offer the breast whenever baby cries?

So I know when my baby (6 weeks today!) is obviously hungry (rooting, sucking hands etc), but I've realised that she'll take the breast whenever I offer it (and she's not showing signs of hunger, and she's eaten recently).

Should I just be offering the breast whenever she's crying (which seems to he all the time Hmm) of just when she's showing other cues?

Thanks so much for updating - that's wonderful to hear your DD is happier for one night at least...

Were you trying to do a bedtime, where she got put upstairs in a cot, and expecting her to sleep most of the evening? Again, I think if you adjust your expectations and don't expect to be able to institute an official bedtime for quite some time (since you might well be feeding for lots of the evening), that might help too. (Although I don't want to start a routine vs attachment type debate here!!)

Glad to hear it's going well OP.

FWIW, when DD was that age, if she made a peep, I'd just offer her a boob.

However, I also found to be really helpful and it definitely worked with my DD so might be worth a try for you?

wigeon god no - bed time?? What's that?? Grin No, we just chill out together in the evenings and all go to bed together. DD just lies on either of us, she's never alone.

Currently feeding/dozing again! She's a MUCH happier bunny. All milky-drunk as opposed to devil child
