Dropping daytime feeds?

Ds is nearly 7 months and going pretty well on solids - we have just introduced the third meal and all seems well However, I'm unsure about how to start dropping milk feeds - he's still feeding 5 times a day and once at night.

Trouble is, he won't take a cup or bottle. I've tried him on a variety of cups and although we have had a teeny weeny bit of success with the avent cup, he really isn't getting enough to make me feel confident about him getting liquid into his diet this way. I've tried just dropping the mid-morning milk feed altogether and it hasn't seemed to bother him that much, but surely I need to be replacing this breastfeed with milk, water or juice from a cup, rather than just not giving him a drink at all?

I'm a bit confused! Should I just drop the milk feed altogether if he's happy to do so, and persevere with the cup until he gets it, or should I continue giving him a breastfeed AND try him with the cup as well??

TIA

Keep up the B/F and trying with a cup as well till he is able to drink a bit more. Let him play with the cup and offer it inbetween feed times. He will get the hang of it. Remember solids contains liquid as well so he will only need to drink a few ounces. I was very regimented dropping feeds with my first DS but was very laid back with the rest. They got B/F when they wanted it, some days they had more than others.
