WHO guidlines

how do I find these? loads of places reference them and I can't find them.

In particular I am looking for how much solid food is suggested at different times during weaning?

I keep hearing this 25% at 12 months but HV says 3 solid meals a day and less milk. Both reference WHO guidlines. Any one know whereabouts on who website are these? any links?
Thank you!

The total energy requirements of healthy, breastfed infants are approximately 615 kcal/d at 6-8 months, 686 kcal/d at 9-11 months, and 894 kcal/d at 12-23 months
of age (Dewey and Brown, 2002). Energy needs from complementary foods are estimated by subtracting average breast milk energy intake from total energy requirements at each age. Among
breastfed children in developing countries, average breast milk energy intake is 413, 379 and 346
kcal/d at 6-8, 9-11 and 12-23 months, respectively (WHO/UNICEF, 1998). The equivalent values for
industrialized countries (for breastfed children only) are 486, 375 and 313 kcal/d, respectively

I think this is what you are after, if you scroll down to p 18 there are some details about the ratio of solid food and breastmilk. I've never heard the 25% thing though, where did you hear that?

XBenedict got there first Grin

Thanks, that's great info.

I read the 25% thing a few times by bf fans and wasn't sure what it referred to- weight, volume, calories etc. Can't even remember where since I've just been googling and haven't found one particularly memorable site.

dd almost completely stopped feeding when introduced solids blw and had to really work hard to get bf in. Now she prefers bf all night and hardly eating in day and am worried maybe not getting enough iron etc.

HV says really important to have 3 good meals a day according to their leaflet that is based on 'who guidelines' and those that rely on milk (~24oz a day) haven't read the evidence...just wanted to check this out; will read that link in more depth, thanks again.
