Only feeding once a day (14 month old) - could I be running out of milk?

Now DS is night-weaned (woo hoo!) he's only feeding for the bedtime feed. He really wants it, tends to nurse for about 10 minutes, and then goes into his cot to sleep.

The last few nights he's been taking ages to go to sleep, and has stood up and pointed at his sippy cup with water in it. He then has a huge drink, and drops off reasonably quickly after this.

So I'm now wondering if I still have enough milk? When I squeeze after he's finished feeding there is still milk coming out (though not in a gush like when he was little).

I was planning on stopping BF completely in January, though DS still wants it every evening, despite not asking for it at night. Should I stop early? Should I replace the bedtime BF with formula?

He seems thirsty but not hungry - the last 2 nights he has even slept through which is a miracle Wink

I should think that you still have milk. As for replacing it, there is no need for formula over 12 months. Once you've completely stopped bfing the recommendation is for 300 ml of full fat cows milk per day until he's 24 months.

Thanks. I didn't know how much milk he needed. He's currently having 120ml full fat milk with breakfast and over 300ml follow-on milk during the day.

I'm in France where we're told to do follow-on milk until age 3! And I was told no cows milk but

Advice varies so wildly from country to country doesn't it. Here in the uk follow isn't recommended at any age and its bfing or cows milk from 12 months.
