Recurring blocked ducts in right breast, very painful

Why does this keep happening? DD2 is nearly 7m and I seem to get horrible painful lumps in my right breast (only ever the right) every few days now. They were fairly easy to massage out during feeds but now I just can't get rid of them. Going to try the soapy comb in the bath thing this evening but can anyone tell me how to prevent this? Having to take paracetamol, the pain is going right into my shoulder, arm and back.

Sympathies Sad I had this a few times, but much earlier on, and BFC suggested it could be seatbelt (I'd just started back driving after CS) or bra putting pressure on breast tissue. Are either of these likely? Or a new top?

I too had this and they were caused by ds being really cute and just resting his hand against my breast whilst feeding.

You need to have a good think and look at your clothes, bras, whether you have anything pressing against your breast at all etc.

Could be bra I suppose - I think I tend to sleep on my right side and have had to wear a bra in bed up till now altho I managed not to last night. Thanks for the tips :)

I fed my daughter for two years and through my breast feeding advisor I learnt how to deeply massage my breast the more you massage the lump the quicker it dispurses.Massage the lump until the pain has subsided this always works for me. Not only that recheck the position of the baby the bigger he gets the more likely your position needs to change because he is getting bigger, if he is to high or too low then this will cause blocked ducts. Recheck your fedding postion completely. Hope this helps

If you can skip wearing a bra in bed that's likely to help a lot (although you might leak everywhere).
