Loss of interest in feeding after jabs

Good evening,

My son Jack had his first set of injections on Thursday morning. Since then he has been very sleepy, and is not really interested in feeding.

I am breast feeding, apart from one bottle of formula a night, which my husband gives to him, so that I can get some sleep. Normally Jack will feed off of one breast for 20 minutes, however since the injections, he has only been on for approx 5 minutes. After this time, when ever I try and put my breast to his mouth, he screams. Today, I ended up expressing 3 oz, and Jack took 2oz.

Tonight he did feed for approx 15 mins. Does anyone know if this is a side effect of the jabs, and if so, how long it should last? He is still having wet nappies, so I know he is getting something, I just want to make sure that he is getting enough!

Many thanks in advance

Gill.

Hmm, not sure (helpful me) my DS certainly had a sleepy/ upset day the day after his jabs so I guess it could be this. In my DS's case it was only a day though. The fact he's got wet nappies is good. If he seems ok apart from the feeding refusal I would give him till Monday to pick up then take him to the docs for a check if still no improvement. Could just be bad timing and he's picked up a bug at the same time as jabs. Does calpol have any effect?

Hi, we didn't give him calpol as he didn't have a temperature. However, after I posted he then fed for another 20 mins! Hubbie has just given him a bottle a 2:30 Am, and he took 4oz, which is back to normal. thanks for replying though! He has had an epic sleep tonight, went down at 7:30pm, and he only just woke. Heres hoping that's not a reaction too the jabs, and is actually his sleep pattern going forward :-)
