Which steam steriliser holds the most wide bottles?

peaches27 · 04/04/2006 22:23

Using a Avent microwave one at the moment, but it doesnt fit all my bottles and bits. We have mostly Dr Browns bottles with a couple of Tommee Tippee ones. I want to buy a second hand one from Ebay but want to know which one will take the most wide, full size bottles.

Any recommendations?

The Avent electric steam sterililer hold loads, 6 wide neck bottles with all the bits. I know someone said to me that Tomy did a big steriliser as well but this was 7 years ago. Or you could always go back to the Milton!!Grin
Do you mind me asking why you have to look after your gd now, Peaches?

Squarer · 05/04/2006 00:03

Peaches - Avent steamers take 6 wide neck bottles and all the teats and bits and bobs. I have one and endless other bits and bobs too. If you need anything please shout!

I don't want much for what I have. Just let know if you are interested Smile

I dont want to go into too many details chip, but basically teen mum (my daughter) left home to be with heap of she calls b/f leaving me with kids. There are other issues but I cant say any more (court case). I do have PR and a res order for them.

Myself and my partner exist on quite a low income, I had to give up work early due to a back injury and it has hit us all hard. We adore the babies and wouldnt see them go elsewhere.

Oh Peaches!SadThat's really hard.

peaches27 · 06/04/2006 23:19

Youve no idea ... but I just keep my head down, keep going, too busy to moan at any length. But there never seems to be enough bottles!!! What is she doing with them all??

Growing, I hope!Grin I'm still not finished with my steriliser or you could have it but you can get them quite cheap on ebay. They do a fancy one called the iQ24 which really isn't necessary, you just need the basic one.

Squarer · 07/04/2006 07:48

you can have my Avent for postage if you want Peaches? I've got about 6 bottles too (boots wide necked)

Let me know if you are interested Smile

peaches27 · 08/04/2006 21:37

Yes please Squarer, that is so kind of you. It is a plug in one that takes 6 bottles isn't it? Please contact me to let me know how much postage to send. I can email the money through email via paypal or send a cheque or postal order - youre so kind, please let me know! So pleased I checked this thread again!!! Grin Been watching loads on ebay and just got outbid on one that was local.

Phew! one more thing off the list to make life easier. Just got a tandem buggy. Next on the list - a sling / carrier so I can do household jobs with little un on my chest!

LOL read this as "Which steam steriliser holds the most wine bottles?". Grin

kiskidee · 08/04/2006 21:54

how old is your little one? I made a pouch sling for myself. will sew you up one if you like.

one like \link{http://www.littlepossums.co.uk/slings/maya/mayapouch.jpg\this}

chipmonkey · 08/04/2006 22:22

a question I've often pondered myself MrsSpoon!

chipmonkey · 08/04/2006 22:22

Kiskidee I'm impressed!

kiskidee · 08/04/2006 22:45

hey, the sewing part took 10 mins but it took me 45 minutes to thread the cotton onto the machine. Blush need another reason to break out the machine!

peaches, I also made one of the ring sling type. let me know. when I look at something and think, 'i can make that!' i refuse to part with my money.

Squarer · 09/04/2006 10:34

Yes, it is the electric one Peaches.

I was wondering what to do today - looks like I'll be searching for the kettle lead for the steamer (last seen in 15 month old Ds's posession - he could have "posted" it anywhere!!) Did you want any spare bottles too Peaches? I also have 4 brand new slow flow teats if the baby is still on these?
I'll CAT you once I find the lead (make sure you have CATs enabled) Smile

peaches27 · 09/04/2006 11:02

Kiskidee thats very kind. She is 4 months. But does that kind of sling enable facing forward carrying? I suppose if you directed us to the instructions either me or my mum could run one up, prob mum because I dont have time any more, but we are both good at sewing.

OP posts:
peaches27 · 09/04/2006 11:06

Squarer, I have enabled CATS (I think!) but I havent paid the extra £5 for using this, so do you think I can still receive it?

I have quite a few bottles but they are Dr Browns. We are still on slow flow. She will use Avent though, so if they are big bottles, I could probably use them. If they are little, it doesnt matter as I have some of the 4oz ones. This is so kind of you, I really appreciate it. Thanks. Get in touch!

Squarer · 09/04/2006 11:18

Yes, you'll be able to get my CATs without paying the subscription yourself. It will be later today - lazy DP still in bed and I know "it's up there somewhere"!!

The bottles I have are 9oz wide necked Boots own brand and the teats are universal to any wide necked brand. I'll have a proper root round to see what I have Smile

how to make a \link{http://www.ida.net/users/stace/sling.html\pouch aka tube sling}

click on the link on the page for instructions on making a french seam.

how to make a \link{http://www.mayawrap.com/sewSling.shtml\ring sling}

both these sites have links to wearing instructions. from what others have posted, both types would suit your bodyshape.

i found the pouch sling really easyfor beginners and yes it suits the carry you mentioned.

I have 2 spare plastic rings I bought online which you can have.

peaches27 · 09/04/2006 14:05

Thank you kiskidee, they are great and look so easy. I will make the tube sling first and see how I get on. If it isnt right I will make the ring sling. Oh Im so pleased I can do it myself!!! I have some old curtains and duvet covers that should be good for the fabric ... if not my mum will have something. What sort of fabric did you use?

OP posts:
Squarer · 09/04/2006 15:22

Peaches - I'm just about to CAT you.... it may take a while to get to you though as I know that Mumsnet offices are depleted of people as of late.
Give me a nudge on this thread in a couple of days if the CAT hasn't come through Smile

peaches27 · 09/04/2006 19:22

Where do I look for the message?

Just made a sling, a mamaroobabysling.com one. It is one recommended for back suppport etc.... only took 20 mins. Its one of those wrap round cross over etc types. It hurts my back. Slight waste of time. Might try tube type.

OP posts:
Squarer · 09/04/2006 21:29

It will appear in your email Peaches - once Mumsnet have checked it doesn't contain anything offensive!
