Help! Need to persuade toddler to stop breastfeeding...any ideas?!

my 2 1/2 year old has always been very attached to the 'boof' as he calls it and I've been happy to feed him as required its worked for us... he goes to nursery, sleeps overnight at grandparents etc with no boof and no problems, but when I'm around he wants it and whilst I try and reason with him I usually give in in the end!

Now new baby on the way and I really think its time to stop, but dont want him to associate it with new arrival, so need to try and resolve this sooner rather than later...

any suggestions!?!

no but watching with interest - also have a 2.5yo who is boob obsessed (to the point she cant sleep without it if im there). have just found out im pg too (v early days though) so naturally have been thinking about this too. i wanted her to self wean really but it looks unlikely Sad

I was hoping for the self weaning miracle too! we've only just found out we're expecting too but tbh I'd like to get it sorted before the bump starts to develop, so there isn't a connection... well fingers crossed someone has some good advice!!

Yes I hope so, sounds like we will have a similar gap all being well. Am thinking I had better research tandem feeding just in case. Boobs bit sore at the minute so feeding is a bit painful. Hopefully someone will be along to help us soon!

I'm in the same boat though my DS is slightly younger. My nipple shave been getting a bit sore so I think I want to stop, though I had been considering tandem feeding. He really doesn't want to stop though and it feels hard in winter when there are loads of bugs around

Well, as I'm now in the 3rd week of hyperemisis the decision has been made for me, as so dehydrated the milk has dried up, but it's not been as bad as I imagined, little one is actually very understanding about giving up his 'boof' so maybe the answer is to find a (more pleasant!) catalyst and use that to make the break....

If I can do it....anyone can!
