Blister on newborn top lip

My 5 week old dd is ebf and has what looks like a little blister in the middle of her top lip. I noticed something similar a week or so ago but only because it must have burst and it left a little flap of dry skin hanging down which I removed. Now looking last night it looks like there is a little blister there. She has recently been fussy when latching over the past couple of days, shes fine once she gets on but she faffs around a bit before. I was wondering if this is normal and if it is possibly hurting her and if it is what can I do to help her? Thanks

I don't know if it's normal, but my 14 week old has one too (ebf). Hopefully someone will enlighten us!

My LO had this 3 separate times. It never seemed to bother her and hasn't happened in the last 3 weeks. She is 8 weeks.

It's fairly normal, I think most babies get them at some point because of feeding. My DS did when he was breastfeeding.

It's probably just a little sucking blister.
DD1 used to get them during a growth spurt when she was feeding a lot.

Both mine had this (EBF) it's totally normal and harmless. Not sure if it's related to the fussiness but it'll go away on its own.

Yes my newborns had these. Perfectly normal. My step mother was always excited to see them and said well done to me and the baby for feeding so well. She's a La Leche League breast feeding nut. In the nicest possible way.

Sucking blisters are common in tongue tied babies, although I am sure there are also other reasons for them.

Definitely a sucking blister. My ff twins had them often.

Another completely normal vote here. My DD had one as a newborn and HV said it was a feeding blister. Didn't bother her and it just peeled away itself.

My DS had them all the time - I read somewhere that they're called "milk blisters". They're normal and harmless. He's 6mo now and hasn't had one for a while but I can't remember exactly when they stopped.

Thatnks guys, I figured it was fairly normal was just worried it might be causing her a bit of pain.

mawbroon - she does have a slight tongue tie which was picked up in the hospital as we had issues starting feeding however it doesn't effect her latch although she does gulp air when swallowing sometimes I'm not sure if this is linked to the tongue tie or my fast flow/let down or a bit of both. Was told at the hospital it probably isn't bad enough for it to be snipped but if it started effecting feeding then to go back and they'd snip it in the day clinic.

Mine had the same so I looked it up, it seems they come in cycles so it will probably keep recurring, but as everyone else said, perfectly normal and can indicate good latch.

DS1 had one constantly in the early months - kept bursting & re-forming. I now suspect he has a tongue tie.

DS2 is developing a bit of one - he has slightly restricted tongue movement too.
