Boots steriliser bags. How much do they hold?

Would they hold all the parts for a double breast pump? Am going away for 3 days and leaving ds3 so will need to pump and these look much more space-saving than the cold-water steriliser I have. And do they leak?

Not quite an answer Chipmonkey, but it will at least bump your q:

Couldn't you just pack stuff inside your cold water steriliser and save space that way?

chipmonkey · 27/03/2006 18:48

I could but I have to bring my briefcase-type bag that the breast pump goes into and I was hoping to stuff all the expressing stuff into it. The steriliser wouldn't fit and we're going with Ryanair who are less than generous when it comes to luggage allowances. Ideally I would like to bring some clothes as well!Grin

I found the boots bags to be sturdy enough. never had a leak or exploding bag. they seem of similar quality as medela bags. i've stopped buying them tho as they work out expensive in the long run.

kiskidee · 27/03/2006 20:03

oh, they are labelled for up to 7 oz but i never put more than 6 in at any one time.

chipmonkey · 27/03/2006 21:10

No kiskidee, I'm talking about the bags that you fill with water and a sterilising tablet and hang up, in place of a proper steriliser. You're talking about the breastmilk storage bags!Grin

Will you have access to a mocrowave? If so take the bags you can put in the micro to sterlize. They don't fit a lot, but you can do a few bits at a time, plus each bag can be used about 20 times (or something like that).

I used the mothercare ones which sound the same - and i fitted three wide necked bottles (bfree/dr browns in - along with all the attachments that go with these. They do hold quite alot and were really easy to use in hotel that we stayed in. - Don't know if that helped or not. Certainly a lot easier that taking a normal steriliser

chipmonkey · 27/03/2006 21:28

We will have a microwave, actually! That actually sounds better. I hate the smell of Milton!

Thanks ysp! I might look in mothercare if I can't get the microwave ones.

You can get them in Boots (pack of 3) each one holds all the bits for 2 bottles, but the y take such a short time in the microwave you can quite quickly do all the bits of a pump etc. Plus I always found with miltons the teats go all cloudy and there always seemed to be a slight lingering "bleachy" smell which worried me.

CHICagoMUM · 27/03/2006 21:32

"Lindam" I think they are.

Laura032004 · 28/03/2006 13:36

Do you want to keep the milk that you're expressing, or are you just expressing to keep your supply up? If it's just to maintain supply, I wouldn't worry too much about sterilising, just wash in hot soapy water and maybe rinse in boiling water.

LIZS · 28/03/2006 13:40

Those travel cold water bags smell far less strong than Milton though.

chipmonkey · 28/03/2006 20:15

Oh I'm keeping it! It would kill me to pour it down into the Bratislava sewers!Grin
