Size 32 G and struggling to find a nursing bra with enough (any!) support, anyone know of a good bra?

Am size 32 G and used to wearing bras with loads of support and am struggling to find a nursing bra which gives me any support at all. Does anyone know of a good, supportive nursing bra? I know most people dread of the day when they stop feeding and it all shrinks to nothing but I dream of it!!! (went down to more manageable 32E after dd stopped feeding).

Have you tried Bravissimo?

Epigirl · 30/12/2003 20:39

Not yet, have had one of their strappy tops with a built in bra which, incidentally, are brilliant. Has anyone had a nursing bra from there? Have you Clairabelle?

DH bought mine whilst was at home feeding in normal bras and just made tits really sore as rock hard. I think he went to Mothercare, if you don't have that perhaps John Lewis or sometimes little lingerie shop in town has contacts...You're right though need proper support as when normal bra is really painful...have you tried blooming marvellous, they might know best sites, good luck and fab that you're breast feeding!

clairabelle · 30/12/2003 20:45

No but a friend did and thought they were brilliant, I'm not breast feeding so have carried on with usual over shoulder boulder holders

brought some great bras off of www.figleaves.com. They cater for your size, do nursing bras and are not overly expensive.

mammya · 30/12/2003 21:19

I love bravissimo, although I've never had one of their nursing bras. They have a couple of styles in your size though, have a look at their website, www.bravissimo.com (my links are not working tonight for some reason, sorry). Look in the sports & SC category. HTH

My sister is enormous and gets hers in John Lewis - don't know if they do nursing bras though

Evansmum · 30/12/2003 22:01

Can't recommend Bravissimo highly enough. Am b/f at the mo and was SUCH a relief when I managed to get there and get properly fitted. I bought three and they are the only ones I'm wearing until I stop feeding. Previous fittings at Mothercare/Blooming Marvellous were rubbish ? I had to put up with the lovely 'overspill' effect until DS was 12 weeks old. Mothercare bras useless (don't know if this only applies to larger cup sizes). Bravissimo have a shop in Ealing ? ideally you need to be fitted in person since, helpfully, one manufacturer's 34F is another one's 36E and it varies between different styles. WHY do they do that? PS also love their strappy tops.

Lisa78 · 30/12/2003 22:02

second that about mothercare, tho I do now have one that fits thanks to lovely assistant who made getting me a comfy nursing bra her mission in life

podgegl20 · 30/12/2003 22:04

I was a 34J whilst feeding. I got a 'Royce' drop cup bra from figleaves. It seemed to work quite well for me although i was pleased to go back to underwires after feeding.

Roscoe · 30/12/2003 22:08

I got mine from M&S. I also needed a G-cup and was mortified to hear that if I needed an H-cup it would have to be specially ordered. They were about £25 for two.

jasper · 30/12/2003 22:52

bravissimo are fantastic. Their customer support ( pardon the pun) is second to none.

Demented · 30/12/2003 23:20

I was a 34F while feeding and found the Anita feeding bra to be very good.

prufrock · 31/12/2003 09:30

Bravissimmo were OK - but the best were John Lewis. Thye had to order me in 34M (so I do know what you are going through) I'm pretty sure it was the Emma Jane style

bunnyrabbit · 02/01/2004 13:53

Was a 30H before i got pregnant so am also used to wearing 'good' bras. I ended up using Royce (34L in the end) but found that none of the wireless bras can really give you the support that you're used to.

Bravissimo seel Royce bras.

bravissimo

Oakmaiden · 02/01/2004 13:56

I got a Royce bra (34H) from John Lewis. I would recommend going in person to buy it and getting it fitted.

Might even get to go to Bravissimo in Manchester too as my brother (db?!?) has said he'll help me with ds & dd if I go (dh working this weekend & next ).

Thanks again xxx

Can I ask how much your bust changed from before and after. I was a 32E and am 7months along and have moved to a 34E. Everybody else I have talked to has had increases in size the whole way along their pregnancy, I was wondering if this is still the case for us with larger busts.

Epigirl · 02/01/2004 21:53

With dd started as 32F, went to 34G soon after birth, then down to 32 again and down to 32E after about 9 months (still bf then but only morning & night). Then...got pregnant again and now ds is 4 months old, back to 32G!!

dont know what size they go up to but M&S do a really comfy nursing one... mines 34DD...dead nice, some of them were crap for support but the lacy looking one is great for support...think they were about 16quid

bunnyrabbit · 02/01/2004 22:52

Don't think from memory (or should that be mammary) that M&S bras are big enough. Was a 30H before I got pregnant and increased to a 34L. Went back down to a 32 but am still a HH or J now. (DS is coming up for 17 weeks).

There was a sleep bra I bought from Bravado, in size S++, but this didn't really give any support, just squished my boobs together so at least I didn't keep catching my nipples!! Comfier than sleeping naked though.

The NCT also do a good range of nursing bras, most seem to start at a 34 but the catalog has the "MAVA 6" which is starts at 32 up to a K cup. web site www.nctms.co.uk tel 0870 112 1120
