Quick, meal out tonight and restaurant being difficult.

I didn't organise meal but we are a large group and table being set up in bar area. Manager on phone said no children allowed otherwise they lose their license, except if I can take a car seat and hide baby on bench behind table. Hmm

Anyway, I don't drive so need to arrive in teeny McClaren, which restaurant said no place for and then hung up!!!

Ds 3.5 and exclusively bf, no bottles.

Not sure but, isn't there some kind of clause in the license of some places that kids aren't allowed. Might not apply to restaurant but may in the bar area. How late will/would you be out?

I remember being kicked out of a wetherspoons at 8pm when we were out with friends and ds was a few months old.

Bit annoying they won't engage in a conversation though, if they're bound by licensing laws, then your quarrel isn't with them.

How bizarre given that website all about how great they are with kids?!

I think pubs can have clauses in their license, but didn't think it could apply to restaurants.

if your child is 3.5 can't he or she walk and eat a dinner? i bfed mine til three but at dinner could be generally fobbed off with chips.

btw, i've taken my children to the bolingbroke. no issues at all

They are already putting their jobs at risk by allowing you to take in the baby and breaking the terms of their licence. It's not their fault you don't have a car seat.

Why are they breaking their lisence. It is a babe in arms that is exclusively breastfed. Baby has to be with me at all times, otherwise cannot eat. Doesn't the bfing laws protect this?

Lots of places have a no children in the bar area rule.

Not really. The law protects you breastfeeding anywhere you can take a baby, not taking a baby anywhere iyswim.

The licensing laws apply to children in bars. All children: babies, toddlers, 10 year olds... If they are bound by the terms of the licence it really isn't their fault. Unfortunate that the person who booked it didn't mention children - though they probably weren't aware of the implications of using the bar instead of the restaurant.

Can't you borrow a car seat? It seems a shame ot miss a night out -it's a nice place.

Starlight Breastfeeding laws do rightly give a lot of protection, but you do not HAVE to be going to a place where children are not allowed.
Can I ask? How did you plan to get there?

I can borrow a car seat blu, but I cannot carry it all the way there. It's 20 mins walk from the station.
