Water

My dd is 4 months old and has been sleeping through the night from an early age. Recently on a few occasions she has woken up and I have had to go to her. I haven't wanted to feed her as that would disrupt the routine she has got in to. Someone suggested giving her water. She is breast feed at the moment and no one has ever told me to give her water. Does any one have any thoughts on the need to give her water or the advantages? I jsut thought she was meant to have my milk.

You can give a small amount of water which can sometimes satisfy bub so they wont need to feed and interupt there routine

She doesn't need water, though it probably won't harm a healthy four-month-old who is feeding normally, but I do wonder what on earth the point is....you have to give boiled, cooled water (hassle) in a clean/sterilised bottle and teat (hassle) which she may very well loudly object to (hassle) because she wants the breast and milk.

Is there something I am not getting her? Why would all that hassle be better or easier than simply breastfeeding???

Plenty of four month olds wake in the night. It's normal behaviour. They grow out of it.

Your baby is prob going through a growth spurt which usually happens at that age therefore she needs to breastfeed as required so your supply can increase to satisfy her need.

Just feed her.
