He has got worse! He was never great, but usually managed 3 hours, a couple of 4 hours and 1 or 2 5-ers, but in the daytime.

He is doing well (I think!) developmentally, so just wondering if this is similar to the dreaded 4 month sleep regression, where he's processing everything? (Can't wait for the 4 month- how will I tell the difference?!!)

Just wondered if I can do anything to get him to go onger, or is it a ride it ot time?

Thakyo.......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.......

It could be a growth spurt. If he has had long gaps before then he'll probably go back to them.

I'm envious of his sleeping. Dd is still feeding every 2-3 hours and she's 8 months. 4 hours comes once ina blue moon and I feel like a different woman when I get that much sleep.

No idea about the 4 month thingy.

Are you co sleeping? So much easier to feed at night that way imo.

I'm envious - every 2 hours around the clock was about as long as DS ever went. There were plenty of nights where he was awake every forty minutes.

Wow!

Just can't master the sleep lying down/half asleep thing so I'm up to feed. Is only 15 min ish, but obv timed from start of feed to start of next, so actually only sleeping 1.5hrs ish, sob!

Someone explained cosleeping to me as akin to being aware of the side of the bed. We don't fall out as subconsciously we know where the edge is.

On the second baby, I wanted a bit more room in the bed for myself so I removed the side of the cot and adjusted the mattresses so they were level and no gaps between. Now baby wakes. , I scoot over, nurse and sometimes I fall back to sleep there or not. Then scoot back when I can.

MumToBeInJuly2012 · 20/09/2012 12:19

Yeah, I've done the same with the cot, what a difference! It's just the lying down positioning, plus I'm quite squirty so need to have my wits about me anyway, haha!

I never mastered feeding lying down - I could never work out what to do with the underneath arm and would get muddled up with pillows, baby head, boob, pyjama, duvet and arm. All too uncomfortable. Might give it another go with DC3 though.

I found it easier at first to get him latched on lying on top of me, biological-nursing style, then gently roll over with him tucking into the crook of my arm.

DS (21w) very rarely goes longer than 2hrs at night. Had a fortnight of half-hourly, ugh. It took until about 12w to properly get lying down nursing sussed (daytime practice helped loads too) and that really changed everything for me. I honestly can't remember how I managed to sit up in the night!

Hope it gets better soon.

Seriouslysleepdeprived · 20/09/2012 21:51

Had the same thing here. DS was going 6-8 hours at around 8 weeks then it changed & he did 2-3 for ages. He's now occasionally started doing 5-6 at 5.5 months. Really hope it lasts!
