Lansinoh

Organising things for the arrival of dc3 and sorting what I need for my hospital bag.

Lansinoh is the miracle I needed to continue feeding the elder two.

Anyway I've not been able to find it anywhere, I found a tiny tube in superdrug today for £9.99!!! When dd was born I got a tube the size of toothpaste for £7, has it really hoiked in price and shrank in size that much in 4yrs.

Has anyone else got any idea where else I can buy it, or is there a new miracle cream these days?

Thank you.

Yep, looks like its shrunk in size

on the basis they price match

We ended up with kamillosan with DS2 as he didn't feed well after lansinoh

Is it available on prescription round you?

ZuleikaD · 17/09/2012 18:42

I think you should be able to get it on prescription. I always found it a nightmare getting the bloody stuff out of the tube.

midori1999 · 17/09/2012 18:44

You can use vaseline instead of lanisoh, you just need to wipe it off before feeds.

Whatevertheweather · 17/09/2012 18:46

Cheapest place I've found it is amazon - £8.99 for 56g. Bloody expensive but it is a miracle worker! Hadn't thought about asking for it on prescription!

mumnosGOLDisbest · 17/09/2012 18:47

Mothercare and boots do it but it has shrunk. Ask your MW nicely mine gave me loads of samples.

NeedlesCuties · 17/09/2012 18:59

I found a wonderful product for £2 in Tesco. Didn't expect it to be any good, but it was.

Is part of the Tesco 'Mum' range, in the baby aisle, is just a plain and simple nipple cream.

StateofConfusion · 17/09/2012 19:57

I've no idea if I can get it prescribed, getting anywhere near my gp is impossible but I can ask the mw next week at my apt.

I saw that today needles and wondered, figured at that price not much to loose, will pick some up.

I'll happily pay it --and mutter a lot under my breath-- if it truly has altered in price and size as it really did help me before but crikey, are they taking advantage of parents slightly? Or is lanolin now like gold dust.

We do have very small shops here so maybe that's why I couldn't find it elsewhere. Will try the next town over. Shame they've made the tube smaller I used it for all kinds, was great on newborn dry skin.

has been about £7 on offer on amazon before, but let's face it, even a tenner is worth every penny as it lasts for ages

mamawharton · 17/09/2012 20:04

my midwife, health visitor and bf support worker all had sachets to give out..... you have to ask for them ... and to be honest i don't know many moms that use the whole tube so try and get some from them!

LittleGoldPlasticPeople · 17/09/2012 20:05

I got lansinoh on prescription with dc1 Smile after I'd gone through two tubes already and was back at the doctors with agonisingly painful nipples when ds was a few weeks old. In the end I had trouble feeding for about 12 week so I saved a fair bit of money by having it on prescription.

Just ask your GP, it took mine a while to find the correct thing to write down- first time he tried I walked out of the chemist with a giant tub of 'lambs wool fat'. But once he'd put the exact weight, active ingredient etc, the chemist dished it out.

I hardly needed any with dc2, so you never know it might be absolutely fine for you this time. Good luck!

StateofConfusion · 17/09/2012 20:35

Oh it is totally worth the money, really I know I couldn't have fed dd without it.

I am obviously hoping to not need it this time but want to be prepared as I'm due 22nd dec and don't fancy shops between the christmas chaos when waddly and pregnant and end of january sales when recovering from a section. Grin

Will ask my MW --even though she scares me-- I was given a few sachets in hospital last time which convinced me to spend the £7 then.

Sainsburys sometimes have it on offer for about £6.50 and I think waitrose sometimes have similar offer?

AlanMoore · 17/09/2012 20:37

And if you do have any left its brilliant lip balm/cuticle balm!

ilovemydogandMrObama · 17/09/2012 20:38

I got free sachets from my midwife Smile

Not sure how much time you have, but Sainsbury's sometimes do half price on baby products, in which case, stock up!

DairyNips · 17/09/2012 20:38

I have a basically full tube you can haveSmile I only used a tiny bit as I had some sachets to use up first. If you pm me your address I'll post it to you..

Whatevertheweather · 17/09/2012 20:51

Actually ocado have it on offer at the moment - £6.76 for 40ml may mean waitrose have the same offer

StateofConfusion · 17/09/2012 21:05

Really Dairy, that would be fantastic. thank you Smile

i tried sainsburys and waitrose and neither had any, maybe its just me being pregnant and not entirely with it --as dd is busy discussing the baby she is havingg with strangers and choosing nappies based on the packaging---
