Gaviscon and breastfeeding

My 7 week old DD has reflux and I'm using Gaviscon as prescribed by the doctor at two weeks. (I'm not convinced it's doing anything actually, but will discuss that at her 8 wk checkup next week.) The point is it's v impractical when we're out and about, or in the middle of the night as I'm ebf.

What have other people done about the fact it needs to be mixed up and used immediately? any tips on how to deal with the cooled boiled water situation when you're on the go? Are there any alternative products?

For the first time I wish I was ff as then it could be mixed into her bottles!

I mixed it with breast milk

Little bit of expressed milk - can take out and about very easily as it keeps longer than formula

We used to have one of the avent pump pots filled with cooled boiled water a day that we took if from. That way we could take it with us out n about And yes it is a pita and no real way around it cos I can't make it in advance Bare in mind how many times a day u can have it at least u won't be preparing it EVERY feed

My dd has bad reflux and was on gaviscon. Fwiw when we finally got referred to a peadiatrician his opinion was its inappropriate for bf babies to have it cos the concentration of a sachet in 30ml water is too highly concentrated. That's why it was making my dd violently sick. But that's just his opinion

When I used it for dd who is also ebf I only gave her it when at home after feeds as you can only give it X times a day. Never noticed a difference in her symptoms using it though, only the consistency of her poo!

Ditto ThisIsCrazy - did nothing for DD1's reflux (still refused to gain any weight or stop feeding/puking 24/7) but made her poo concrete instead Hmm Domperidone worked wonders for DD1 - other drugs may be more appropriate for your DD though so push for a paed. referral if Gaviscon isn't helping.
