White spot on nipple ( again! ) - thrush or teething?!

I posted on Friday about a white spot that had appeared on my nipple along with pain when feeding and a lumpy area in my boob. Replies ( and Internet research ) suggested either milk blister/blocked duct or thrush. At first I thought it was the former, so did hot compress, massaging and feeding more off that side yesterday. This seemed to help, can't feel the hard lumpy area in boob now and there isn't the pain from the boob either.
However nipple still quite sore and spot still there but I don't think it's painful enough to be thrush? Just checked in DS's mouth and there was a white spot too in the middle of his bottom gum. Though when I touched it I'm pretty sure it's a tooth! So now I'm confused!
Basically just wondering whether anyone who's had thrush thinks this sounds like it? As will need to go to doctor if so but don't want to look like an idiot if it's not!

Never really heard of teething causing a problem for you, well unless they take the odd bite that is.

I'd give one of the Bfing Helplines a call and see what they say.

I think it is a milk blister. Just expressed, at first I thought it had gone but with pumping it was bulging again so that sounds more like a blister? I think the tooth is a red herring.

Sounds like a nipple bleb. I didn't say this, but a sterile needle can work wonders for releasing the pressure. Sometimes the milk is solidified so may need a little encouragement to come out. Can cause blocked ducts, which sounds like what you had earlier.

Glad you said that, was wondering about popping it! Though have just given it a rub with a shower puff which may have done the trick, in a rather painful manner! If not I do have access to sterile needles if necessary ( vet nurse ).

Try not to worry, always best to get any breast questions answered by your GP. you certainly won't look like an idiot. I had a white spot on my nipple after finishing breast feeding, it dispersed itself by its own accord x

I got these loads when I was breastfeeding - I found that a little pressure with clean finger nails (as if you're squeezing a pimple) can encourage the blockage to pop out and there was sometimes such a build up of milk behind that a spray of milk would follow. Very satisfying! Also works in the bath and if you do it underwater you can see where the milk flows easily and where is comes out in creamy lumps. I always found that this cleared it and eased the pain.

Honestly the last person I would ask about bf questions would be a gp! Most people who haven't had specialist bf training wouldn't have much of an idea, and no gp I have ever met has had training other than women have breasts and produce milk for their baby. Sadly the 3 worst bits of advice I've had about bf have been from gps, one told me to switch to formula, one told me to stop as it makes pnd worse, another told me I had to stop because the tablets I was taking were dangerous for the baby (ads suitable for bf according to bnf)
Best advice I've had has actually been from peer supporters, and the infant feeding coordinator at my local hospital.
