Expressing - is there such thing as an 'average' amount...?

...I think I may know the answer to this but thought I'd through it out there anyway!

I'm only really successful if I express in the morning. Anytime after that is quite depressing! So, for example, this morning I managed about 2 1/2 oz from one breast. Not sure if this is good going but the breast pump I'm using (Medela mini), borrowed from a friend, only has a huge bottle attached so the amount looks rather feeble! I'm storing it in storage bags in the fridge and they can hold up to 9oz! Are there actually people out there who could express 9oz??? If so I am VERY jealous - it must be a lovely feeling watching your fabulous boosoms happily give over 9oz!

So, is my 2 1/2 ounces as paltry as it feels? (Note to self; get smaller bottles for breast pump!)

Thank you

For me it depended massively on what my DC was taking per feed at the time. So 2.5oz each side (5oz from both) would have counted as a good session for me when DC were feeding at top rate. Only with DD did I get more than that from one side, and the maximum that ever reached was 4oz. You can keep it in the fridge for 24 hours before freezing so I used to stick two day's worth into one bag. But I've got a friend who used to produce pints - she showed me her freezer once and there must have been thirty full freezer bags. Not breastmilk bags, bog-standard Waitrose freezer bags. It was terrifying.
