Hi, just wondering, because it seems like since he has been able to do it, he is permanently sucking on them, and worrying if he is permanently hungry ! If he is played with or distracted, he is full of lovely smiles after feeds, but if he is ever left on his mat or chair, or if his hands are near his face when being carried, he sucks the life out of them !

DD2 did this from about 12 weeks, she had two teeth by 16 weeks!

Hand chewing can mean almost anything, teething, wind, hunger or just because they can, so try not to worry.

My bfed dd does it she has also tried to suck my nose when we were lying on the bed!

9 week old DS2 does this too. He's quite happy (I think!). If anyone is chatting to him he doesn't put his hands in his mouth but I thinks it's his entertainment when he's on his own. And him starting to learn/explore. I'm hoping that he manages to get his thumb in soon!

thank you, it;s reassuring to know other los do it. i don't think my ds1 did it, or i don't remember, and he was ff by this point and i was sure he was full up !

My daughter is exactly the same - hands in mouth isn't a feeding cue anymore; it just means she's got her hands in her mouth.

She latched onto my husband's nipple the other night; both were very shocked Grin

hehe, how funny commander ! which cues would you go by at this age? (like to avoid waiting for ds to cry, but think i know when he wants to feed ... sort of smacks lips and curls tongue, and i wonder if arms and legs going 10 to the dozen is still a cue at this stage too....)
