Oh I can sympathise! DD was just the same when she was teeny but has got better as she got older. Could you make a wrap type sling yourself out of fabric? I'm sure if you google there are instructions on the web. Moby wraps are after all just a length of fabric!

lookout · 02/09/2012 21:15

Ds2 was exactly like this as well. I'm afraid I just strapped him into the car/pram and went on the school run Sad. It was pretty hard, heart-breaking at times, but he soon got used to it. Have to say though, even at 11 months he still won't fall asleep either in the car or the pram

I would def second Elfontheedge's suggestion of fashioning a sling from something, saved my life when he was tiny. Where are you? I can lend you mine if you're anywhere near Berks/Bucks?

Cheekychops84 · 02/09/2012 21:16

Ooooh I give it a go ! Thanks ! I feel housebound :(

Any second hand shops nearby? Maybe you could look there. I was really stressed whilst ebf maybe baby picking up on it? If at all possible try not to transmit any tense feeling to the baby? Not sure if this possible mind you.

Cheekychops84 · 02/09/2012 21:18

I'm all the way in Surrey ! Thank you tho guess she will have to jus get used to it :(

oh and i sympathise - no school run here, but baby who hates pushchair and car seat. my second hand sling has saved our sanity!

Tgger · 02/09/2012 21:24

Beg, borrow, or steal a sling/baby bjorn type carrier. They are magic for screaming baby types Grin. I gave my baby bjorn away or I would have posted it to you, I'm sure there are others with them in their cupboards. Otherwise yes, get creative, African women don't buy them do they.....

TruthSweet · 02/09/2012 21:25

This might help - no sew 'moby' wrap or if you have £18 here.

Tgger · 02/09/2012 21:25

Yes, worth trying LLL, NCT, Children's centres- get the word out there!

happy2bhomely · 02/09/2012 21:26

All four of mine were like this until they were about 10 months old. They were happy babies, as long as I was holding them.

With 3rd (because I obviously needed my bands free with the other 2) I got a length of material from our local market. It cost £6 and I wrapped it like a moby. Best £6 I ever spent. She would sleep all day (6-8 hours) and then feed all night. We co slept and she would latch on and off without disturbing me. Not ideal, but saved my sanity!

clabsyqueen · 02/09/2012 21:26

Try eBay for a sling. Dozens of them at bargain prices. I've enjoyed baby bjorn and karime (just a long piece of stretchy fabric - you can download the guide from their website but use your own fabric if you're really stuck for cash but make sure it's string and stretchy) good luck

Cheekychops84 · 02/09/2012 21:26

Does she get any better once you get walking? My DS used to cry when put in the pushchair, but was happy once we were moving.

This sling library may be near to you, and if not they do postal loans, if you want to give something a try.

Alternatively this is a list of others that might be near to you. Not saying a sling library is the solution, but it would at least give you the chance to try some things out, and if that worked for you, fantastic, and if not, at least you've eliminated the idea.

TruthSweet · 02/09/2012 21:27

Oh and have a look here there are sling libraries in Dorking, Farnham, and Surrey & Hants one too. Hope there is one close enough to you.

Cheekychops84 · 02/09/2012 21:29

I still carry my ds2, 11 months old and 24 lbs in a woven wrap Wink, 12 lb would be fine! Try a www.slingmeet.co.uk/ (sorry rubbish at links), they will often lend you a sling to try

Cheekychops84 · 02/09/2012 21:36
