oversupply fixed - now expressing?

Thanks for the help a few weeks ago re oversupply! Now with block feeding and letting fast let down squirt into a towel we're pretty ok! I now want to start expressing. My supply is still high overnight and particularly first thing in the morning, but I'm not massively concerned as presume this is pretty normal (?!) I'd like to feed from one side first thing then express the whole of the second. Will this bring my oversupply back, in particular will it make my overnight leakage even worse? Thanks again x

Congratulations on getting it sorted - I had awful oversupply so feel your pain! How old is your LO? I found that things only truly started to settle down at around the 12 week mark, my DS could cope with my flow better, and there weren't any problems with regards to my supply and him (up until 12 weeks, he had all of the horrible symptoms and it was awful!).
I would say give it a go, if you feel that your supply is now better suited to your LO's needs, then there shouldn't be any harm. If you do find that you start leaking badly etc, then you can just revert back to the block feeding for a short period of time if you feel it is necessary.

Hi, thanks for taking the time to read and reply.he's 7.5 weeks but gaining well and I feel we're pretty established, like you say, he just needs to control my squirty side a bit more, he's had it in the eye bless him! Buying a TT bottle tomorrow to try, excited, what a loser! Just doing 1 bottle every 3 days to start but will build up a freezer supply. Will be sad tho that I'm no longer his only feeder!

The only thing I would add is that if DS has an expressed feed to replace a feed from you then you should ideally express the missed feed as it may temporarily disrupt your supply. Or you may be ok with just missing one feed but more than one & it might mess up. I say this as my supply seems to be quite sensitive (also had oversupply issues in the early wks with both DSs) & I thought I could swan around on my own while DS1 was having expressed feeds but apart from the discomfort it made my supply all over the place for the next day or so. Also another thing to watch out for is possible return of periods as some women find it reduces their supply in the days leading up to a period cos of the hormones.
