EBF not doing a poo for days

My EBF DD is 5 months old and since roughly the beginning of July she has only done a poo every few days.

It started off being after 5 days for a couple of times then it increased to 6, then 9 and now we don't think she has done one for 11 or 12 days.

She has however had atrocious wind since this all began even though I haven't changed my diet.

How long do I leave it before I need to really start worrying or should I already be worried?

it's normal - DS did this. we soon learned to stay in once every 10 days :o

DD is doing the same now!

DS went through this phase as well at around 5 months. I was told that he was probably using all the breast milk up and therefore didn't create any waste (not sure if there is any truth to it).DS now on solids and his poo's have become more regular every 2 days or so.
That being said when he wasn't going as regular the longest we went without was a week. Would you HV be worth a call to be able to reassure you?

Thanks I think I will call my HV in the morning unless a poo turns up in the mean time Smile.

She doesn't seem to be bothered by it so I'm guessing she can't be in any pain.

I have also heard about there not being much left over after she has digested the milk so maybe there is some truth in it.

Had this with my BF DS. He once went 18 days! HV kept saying all normal. Took him for cranial osteopathy and his movements got much more regular - every 2 days or so. Thoroughly recommend it.....

Totally totally normal. No need to worry at all as long as your baby's not showing signs of dehydration or pain. In both cases, you'd notice :)

Thank you for reasuring me, I shall not worry especially as she has plenty of wet nappies so shouldn't be dehydrated.

I just have to keep her off of my dad's beige sofa whilst we stay there today just to be on the safe side Grin

I'm sure it is nothing to worry about, but just keep an eye on it as 4mo ebf DD has just been diagnosed as having an allergy to cows milk protein and lots of constipation was one of the main syptoms, along with mucousy stools and we also had an incident of blood in her stools.
This probably isn't the case if she isn't in any pain etc, but I wish I had contacted my doctor early rather than just relying on the opinions of others and HVs saying 'it's normal'!
