The second my nipples feel air they start dripping! Is this a permanent thing or will I get some control?

It'll calm down. Mine dripped at the drop of a hat, they squirted in the shower too!
Calmed down by 6 or 7 weeks I reckon.

Glad to hear it, I seem to wear more milk than ds drinks some days.

definitely calms down. Worryingly so sometimes. I got paranoid that I didn't get the massive painful letdowns I got when I first started bfing, until someone on here reassured me that after 10 months of bfing I wasn't running out of milk :o

The first few weeks are hilarious though. You cannot control parts of your body squirting things out at inopportune moments. Getting out of the shower was my peak squirty time. I'd get out, dry off and then wonder why my feet were still wet. And then I looked down at the pool of milk collecting at my feet.

Such a waste! :o

Lol I have squirted it all over me and the baby much to my older dc amusment. The first time they were giggling, dp was laughing and I was crying laughing dripping all over the floor and couldn't compose myself enough to get a breast pad.

These boards are so helpful aren't they, every question is answered and everyone is so supportive!

Grin at the dripping milk! And absolutely it is a waste too - like bloody gold dust!

Mine were the same OP. I had (still have) good supply and fast let down in those early days. I'd get through a muslin a feed and several pj's during the night too. It didn't really ease off until about 9 or 10 weeks for me (people said 5-6 weeks was more normal). I tried using nipple shells to collect the milk but they used to over fill or I wouldn't catch them in time. I think I used to put a (sterilised) cup under the one boob she wasn't feeding from to catch the milk that was leaking and freeze it!

Even now (DD is 12 months and I've continued to breastfeeding) i still feel the let down (not as powerful than in the new born days) and the other boob she isn't feeding off will also leak during that let down (used to spurt out in the early days). I swear my body prepared for twins! Wink

That's a good idea, collecting the.milk! I might give that a go actually.

I suppose we are lucky to have such a.good supply, there is just so much to get used to.
