Clingy 9mo still breastfeeding all the time! Tell me I am not the only one

I am just wondering if anyone else has a 9 month old that is so attached to them. I am desperate to stop night feeding, but she is having none of it. She has gone from 25 to 75% and even my GP said she doesn't need the milk at night.

During the day she wants to be held ALL the time, screams if I leave the room.

I am desperate for a break and just wondering what I can do to encourage a little independence. She is already mix fed, has a bottle once in a while since 7 months. I tried giving bottle at bed time to see if she slept longer but it didn't work. She is still on 4x feeds a day, plus solids, this seems like a lot to me.

I feel like giving up. Anyone else?? How much does your 9mo eat/drink/sleep?

You are not the only one!

DS is nine months old, and he is a Velcro baby.

He is trying to eat me at the moment so I will have to make this short. I have found the links bellow helpful.

best of luck!

My 9month old has four breast feeds a day plus three meals, and occasionally snacks too. I thought it was quite normal?

He has also just started a big separation anxiety period, much more clingy and aware of where I am, I think around now is the peak for this. This to shall pass!

I should add that I am not trying to wean him at night. He sleeps through the night, albeit attached to my breasts.

Are you co-sleeping? That might help.

Sounds normal at that she to be hoist. My 21 month old still has 3 feeds a day plus solids and doesn't always sleep though. But does a lot of the time with a dream feed (well he actually wakes at 11 pm for milk). So that would be a total of 4 feeds in 24 hours.

why should a 9 month old baby sleep through? He's still small growing fast and possibly has other needs during the night other then just food. But feeding him gets him back of to sleep quikly and nicely. Night weaning doesn't always = sleeping through and then you won't have a quike and easy way to get him back to sleep.

Do you as an adult go 12 hours without a drink?

You are not t only one!! Your post took t words right out of my mouth...I'm desperate for a break too!
My DS will be 9months on Monday and for the last 6weeks or so, has been extra fussy and clingy, gone off eating solids (used to eat really well), won't eat off spoons unless its yoghurt, won't be put down easily and feeds about 4/5 times a day, and 2times at night. Arghh he's such a cutie but gosh there are days when I can't wait to get away for a bit.

He starts nursery in a cpl of months and I've been wondering if I need to start being more disciplined so he won't struggle to settle in, without bf during t day and learning to nap without being pushed around in his pushchair....but then he has been teething, had a cold...and I'm always finding excuses that he'll get there soon, after this or that..,maybe it's an instinct thing to do what comes naturally rather than force t issue. Lol...I never thought I'd be saying this as I was so pro- routine and structure etc...before when I was a normal person who not sleep deprived!

Anyway, ur not t only one...and I hope it gets better soon, cos I'm running outta excuses now!!

thanks. I just needed to hear others have the same thing.

teething has made her slightly off solids and it seems she wants even more breast! ugh.

I know we will get past it but with my windows open I think my neighbours must think something is wrong...the amount of times she cries and the screams she lets out just when I leave to go to the loo!
