Tricky feeding...think he may have lip tie

Hi :) Just after some advice if poss.
Baby is 3 months old, ebf.
Tongue tie snipped early as sooo painful to latch, heart shaped tongue, pinched nipple, clicking, breaking suction etc.
However still wasnt able to deeply latch and maintain suction, still sore, would do few sucks then could hear break in suction then clicking. Tried exag latch, in bath, etc etc to no avail. Only thing that works is nipple shields which we have used from about 3 days old and still use every feed. He is gaining weight really well, feeds quickly and efficiently with the shields, im not sore, abundant supply, feeds 2-3 hrly in day, just one feed over night- so really all is good.

However, would at some point like to ditch the shields as they are a bit fiddly and messy (but not desperate to do so as things are going really well aside from that)

Courtesy of doctor google, i think he might have a lip tie, something i havent really heard a lot about before, but he never has flipped his top lip up in the duck way that babies should do with good latch.

The tie goes down to the bottom of his gum, but doesnt go over.
Is there anything to be done, doctor google also tells me thet wont do anything about it usually?

Lip tie seems to divide opinion. Most in UK seem to think that it doesn't make any difference and wait to see if it causes a gap in teeth before doing anything about it.

this explains the consequences of untreated lip tie

There is a dentist in Huddersfield who lasers them, but I think he is the only one in the UK

HTH
