Switching to formula at 8 months... which is best?

Sorry if this has been asked before... I'm hoping to switch to FF in preparation for DS starting nursery soon (just not together enough to express regularly and feeling ready to reclaim my boobs anyway).

DS will drink EBM (with ill grace) and water, but doesn't seem to like formula. Have tried him on HIPP and Cow and Gate, and he just gets a big mouthful and then gobs it at me.

Have you found any particular formula to be best when making the switch, or is it different for every baby?

LO wasn't too bothered - we tried them all and found Hipp the best in terms of reflux when he was small. Now he's bigger he'l take anything!

Have you tried mixing formula and EBM?

Trial and error over which they will accept I think is the answer.
We tried a few including SMA and Hipp but aptamil was the one ds would swallow happily.

When we finally moved to cows milk, I thought I would have to phase it in gradually as the taste it quite different, but tried him with some just-cows to see what he would do and he drank it without batting an eyelid. Funny eh - wasn't expecting that after the faff we had with ff. :)

Thanks all.

I haven't yet tried mixing EBM and formula - that might be my next step if he doesn't go for Aptamil or SMA either. I'm just a bit precious about having to chuck away my oh-so-precious EBM if the experiment doesn't work. Plus I don't like buying all these different cartons of formula only to chuck them.

Oh, why can't he just point and give a thumbs-up for the one he's going to like?

Just buy the single serving sizes until you find one he likes. Then invest in the larger pack. :)
