I have a gorgeous 16 DO DS who i am EBF, I have another 3.5 DS who was also EBF until 1 year old. This time around it seems to be a lot harder and he seems to be cluster feeding every night, I am shattered and dreadng DP going back to work on Monday.

DS feeds every hour to hour and half from 11pm and it seems that he is never full, he was a big baby at 9lb12 and is putting weight on fine. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to prolong the time between feeds to make him more full and perhaps sleep for longer. At the moment I bring him in with me and lie down and feed him and we both drop off, so I am not sure even how much he is having as I am so shattered. He then wont settle for more than 1 hour in his moses basket, and wants another feed. Am I going made or doing something wrong or is it just what EBF on demand is all about. My DS1 feed for 40mins and then slept for about 3 hours so I sort of had some idea it would be the same... Any thoughts would be great or just encouragement that i am not going insane...

Thanks
x :)

Jezza, it can be easier to change your expectations and the way you manage things than to change your 16 day old....who just over 2 weeks ago was next to you all the time :)

How about co-sleeping instead of him being in the basket? There are ways to do this safely and which allow you more sleep.

He is normal, the feeding normal, and of course you are normal for finding it tiring. Co-sleeping will really help :)

Sixteen days old is so very little. Right now just ride with things, and before you know it, he will have got himself into a more regular pattern. Feeding like this is fantastic for your supply and his development and growth, as tiring as it is at this point in time.

Is there anyone would will be around to help you with your older child when your DP goes back to work?

Congratulations. x
