Apps to keep me awake/occupied during night feeds...

I am trying to prepare myself for the arrival of Dc3, I'm particular looking for apps or anything else (possibly a kindle?) to keepe awake during night feeds.

I currently use Facebook and mn and that's about it. Any top app tips?

Kindle. If you don't fall asleep reading. Catch up tv, but you'd need earphones.

I mean the kindle app, no need to buy a kindle. Oh and Mumsnet app!

Why do you need to stay awake?

If you can feed lying down then you can also maximise sleep!

Iplayer.

And look up sleeping and nursing positions Wink

Kindle app on iPad is good, I like board games too, Catan and Ticket to Ride are fun and quite quick to play.

Happygirl77 · 22/07/2012 22:15

I also use (for dream/night feeds - when I don't go back to sleep)
eBay
Next
Shop style apps
though they all require more input and awareness! Also MN, FB and the Kindle app :) Classicly also has free literature

YY just sleep and nurse!

I recommend any games which are timed and play an alarm when you run out of time. Then if you fall asleep it hopefully wakes you up...

Bejewelled blitz Grin

I have a routine of email (although who the hell would have emailed me at 3am?!), Facebook, mumsnet, and then something else to pass the time - bejewelled (although I'm a bit bored of it now), ibooks/kindle, reading the news not the daily fail, oh no

But now DS is a bit more efficient, I don't even bother picking up the iPad sometimes, as it's easier to get back to sleep without having looked at the bloody bright screen. And yes, feeding lying down is the ultimate skill to master - our 6am feed is usually done like this and it is the best (zzzzzzzzz)

Check out this thread from a few weeks ago - lots of ideas there. And lots of midnight snack recommendations Grin

I have an iPhone but not an iPad. Does the kindle app work ok on the phone or will it make me go blind?

I can feed sleeping on my left, but I find it really awkward and painful on my elbows (!!) to do it in exactly the same position on the right. I have no idea why.

I find kindle fab on my phone. I change the font size and brightness depending on where I am and how tired I am. And have downloaded loads of free books from Amazon.

It took me ages, but eventually I mastered feeding from both boobs lying on one side. Could you try that? You have to kind of move further away from DC and tilt yourself forward a bit. As for the elbows, um, mine kind of goes under my pillow above my head iyswim.

To answer your actual question though: eBay, bbc news, pinterest, baby centre.

vanimal · 22/07/2012 22:38

Wow, I had never even considered feeding from both boobs lying on one side. My boobs are humongous though, so that might work.

I'm really looking forward to feeding and seeing dc3 now, even though I still haven't packed bags or dug out the old baby grows etc.

I'm going to try the kindle app, and will definitely have a l

Inspired huh? I think I did it by mistake the first time and then found it easier as it meant I could keep DS on 'my' side and not next to his heavy sleeping dad.

Good luck! Such an exciting time Grin
