Bedtime feeding issue

DS is 15 weeks & BF. we have a bedtime routine that involves boob, bath, massage, boob, (1/5 hour sitting up time for reflux) & finally bed around 7pm.

This had been going well until recently when I put him down he then wakes up half an hour later crying because he's hungry, so I feed him obviously but then have to sit up again for 1.5 he, put him down & will then happen again.

It's driving me nuts...I've tried feeding him more in the afternoon but he won't really take it. Any ideas what I can do?

Sounds like he's having a froth spurt and needing to feed more. Can you just let him hang out with you in the evening for a bit until he steals down a bit.

Also a sling mite be a good idea for keeping him upright after a feed but helping him get a bit more sleep to. You can potter around with him in it our send your other half out for a walk with baby so you can have a break.

Thanks. Slings out unfortunately as I've hurt my back & am struggling to lift him as it is. He also self settles now in his cot which is a god send that I'm keen to encourage!

It feels more like cluster feeding than a growth spurt IYSWIM. Not sure if I'm putting him down too early, although he's shattered by 6.30/7pm & will just feed, sleep, wake, feed, sleep wake...it took pretty much 2.5 hrs tonight to get him town.

May be I should just keep him downstairs.Confused

I probably would :) 15 week olds aren't massively encroaching on an evening anyway - just keep him on your lap or let him doze in a bouncy chair or something while you go through this cluster feeding phase.

I have a bad back could hardly lift DS, oddly enough I can still carry him in a sling. A good wrap sling means you're caring the weight on your legs not your back. Made it much easier to carry him as just holding hurt more.

Yes don't panic about routines yet just let him chill out with you until he has a longer stretch of sleep himself.

I have a Close sling is that a wrap one? It was great when he was tiny but I can't get it to work now he's bigger.

My bad back is odd, it hurts so much to lay flat I can hardly move when wake up, DH has to help me! He's away this week so scared of making it worse.

May try keeping him downstairs longer tonight Smile

The close is a bit of a weird one as it's like a hybrid. Personally I prefer wraps as with stretchy ones you tighten them before putting the baby in so it's harder to have it too loose.

My LO had reflux really bad when she was around that age and we were advised to prop up the mattress in cot just with a few towels underneath. This means that you could put your son in cot after feed instead of having to wait for the upright time. We found it made a huge difference and she slept straight away. Maybe give it a go. Good luck.

Is this a recent problem since having your baby? Sounds very smiler to the problem i've been having. Go see your gp and get some physio, that really helped.

Yes I used a streacy wrap sling till around six months, then I've used mie ties since and can still carry DS at 19 months. In fact the days I don't wear him my back pain is worse the next morning.

We do prop his cot up on books & he is on ranitadine, which all helps. He choked on his own vomit & went into respiratory distress at 6 weeks - heart stopping, so I'm probably overly paranoid. I may brave it & try putting him down sooner.

Thanks, I think I will see the GP for physio. It is new & not getting better. Ive been seeing an osteopath but it's costing a fortune & bit really helping.

I kept him downstairs with me last night & it was the same thing. I wonder if this is the start of another growth spurt actually. Not sure I've recovered from the last one!
