Nursing top and bra

Hi
I am a size 14 and am breastfeeding my 20 day old baby. My 34J bravissimo bra no longer fits, these things are mahosive now and I am wearing a XL cariwell bra that doesn't do much. Any advice on a decent nursing top and bra? I really just want comfort and something loose fitting. Ideally I want to be able to BF in the park so need something which will be discreet. Help please.

hi, sorry can't help with the bra advice - have never been more than an A cup, and even the smallest cups on maternity bras had to be filled out with nursing pads even when engorged! I did see recently an ad for a singlet-style top meant to be worn under any other top/shirt for breastfeeding. The neckline actually sat beneath the breasts and bra, and its purpose was to cover the tummy while pulling up your shirt to feed. I wished they'd been around when i was feeding. i always found when they were little, it was easiest to just throw a little sheet or wrap over the shoulder of the side they were feeding. i don't know of any way to attach a baby to the breast without a determined observer catching a glimpse of the breast! we rely on their respect as much as they expect our discretion!

A decent, independent bra fitter should be able to advise you. Bradbeers in Romsey are fantastic, if that's anywhere close enough?

Expensive but so important.

Congratulations :)

No idea on the bra front I'm afraid - there are some in Debenhams at the moment which I really like, but they only go up to H cup Sad

However, on the nursing top front, lots of people will probably say don't bother with specific nursing tops, just wear a strappy top under a loose fitting top, one up one down sort of thing, which is fine, but I actually find it easier to be discreet with nursing tops, personally. I have quite a few of these from H&M.

Hope you can get to a decent bra fitter Smile

Try the brand Royce. Found them supportive in a similar situation. NCT website shop save you going out. They also have bra advisers in certain areas depending where you live but your local branch should be able to sign post you.

Or the brand FReya also available widely I believe

Look at bravado custom here supposed to be very comfortable.
As for being discrete, I am going to try making these nursing vests As I have large boobs too I don't think that pulling a cami down will work well, but this idea looks genius! The other thing that works well is a belly band to keep tummy covered.

Many thanks, will have a look.

I think cherrymar is thinking of the 'Breastvest'. If you google it you'll find it. Must admit they look good if you like the 'vest down, top up' idea. I do! Feel less exposed this way.

The NCT have local bra fitters who visit at home. Head to their website and contact their local branch to ask for contact details of their local fitter.

They have a huge range of styles and brands and it saves you a trip to town with a baby in tow.
