How to give infant gaviscon when breastfeeding?

Been to the doctors today for the routine 6/8 week check up and pestered him for some gaviscon for DS ( previously posted about crying after feeds, hiccups, fussing at breast etc and silent reflux came up as a possibility ) Doctor didn't seem convinced it would work, his opinion was basically that DS is just a cranky baby and he will grow out of it eventually. He said to try the gaviscon if I wanted but not to get my hopes up that it will help!
Anyway! My question is - has anyone given the gaviscon successfully with a spoon or syringe once mixed up or do you have to add it to a bottle? I am going to start expressing anyway so I can occasionally leave DS with a bottle, but don't really want to be doing it 6 times a day! Plus I read that it's best if mum doesn't bottle feed baby as they are less likely to take it? (as will be confused that not having boob?)
Any tips??

Just a thought - could I get some formula and just use it for this purpose, would that be an option? Or would it interfere with breastfeeding? Sorry if these are stupid questions but I am clueless!

I'm EBF and giving Gaviscon. I do it with a syringe. At first I made the mistake of trying to put syringe right into baby's mouth which he didn't like, but HV showed me to just poke it inside the cheek and squirt a little bit at a time. He swallows most (but not all) of it that way. I make it up a bit thicker than the packet says so there's not as much to swallow though he doesn't seem to mind the taste.

We do exactly as lebkucken does. Mix with water and give with a syringe.

I expressed a bit, mixed and put it in a syringe. DS hated the stuff, but did slow down some of the violent upchucking of every feed!

Thanks! I've had a bit of practise syringing in Infacol/Dentinox/ gripe water so hopefully will be ok. Plus am a vet nurse, it's got to be easier than syringe feeding cranky cats and stroppy rabbits right? ( must remember not to scruff the baby....)
