Is my baby upside down?

I'd be very grateful for any help / thoughts. I'm tripping over my feet with exhaustion. I think my DS, aged 5.5months, is upside down. He is awake every 90 mins - 2 hours in the night, and will only settle with feeding, but won't feed in the day. I have a two year old, which means i can't rest in the day, and so I am at wits end, and probably making everything worse.

I think he is definitely teething too.

Has anyone else had this experience, and does anyone know what I should do to get him eating in the day and not at night? I can't think straight I am so tired. I also sooo exhausted after 2.5 months of it, that I am doing anything i can to get him back to sleep at night.

Thank you everyone. Am desperate and sad because I've stopped enjoying my baby :-(

I think this is pretty common. I'm going through something similar with my six month old. Some people call it "reverse cycling," and the theory is that babies of this age are more mobile and alert so they are too busy moving and looking around, which interrupts their feeds. They then make up for this at night when it is dark, quiet and mum also isn't distracted.
I found a good article on La Leche, which recommended things like trying to have uninterrupted daytime feeds etc. Will see if I can find it and post the link.
Hope it gets better soon. My daughter has never slept through the night, and never taken a daytime nap without me holding her/rocking her or pushing her in the pram. I very much empathise with your sleep deprivation, it really makes it hard to enjoy your baby in the same way you would if you were rested. Good luck.

So he's totally distractable during the day and won't feed? Poor you, you do sound exhausted.

Does he have naps during the day? Many distractable babies feed more easily when they are drowsy or even actually asleep! A good time to feed these babies is at the end of a nap when they are moving into light sleep and starting to make the little movements that tell you they will be awake soonish.
