Does it mean my milk has run out if breasts aren't even slightly engorged after 24 hrs of no feeds?

Trying to wean ds 15 mo, had dropped to only one feed at 5 am by yesterday. Today boobs not even slightly hard and baby fed for only few mins. Think he got a bit. How long does milk take togo?

Not if you've been feeding fore such a long time. Once breastfeeding is well established most milk is made during the feed. When children self wean they can go days/sometimes Weeks between feeds but you won't have dropped up.

No, I never got engorged after the first few months of feeding DD2, and by 18 months was sometimes only feeding every 2-3 days.

No, not after 15 months, it just means your supply is tailored to what your DS is taking now.

I agree with the others.

My DD is only 13 months and feeds about 8-12 times a day still, but I am never engorged, although the longest I have gone without feeding is around 18 hrs.

I stopped feeding from one side a few months ago too and although I did decrease to one feed a day, that side was never engorged either. Plus, even after three months there is some milk there.

Thanks guys, that's really interesting and helpful. I didn't know milk was produced as you fed. I'm relieved too because I want to have bf up my sleeve if ds needs it - also weaning is a bit emotional isn't it? I feel a bit tearful, so means a lot that I'm not stopping completely iykwim
