Is it ok to only feed from one breast ? (dd 8 months old)

My dd is 8 months old. For the past few weeks is has been a real battle to get her to feed from my right breast and I have absolutely no idea why. She will feed lovely from the left but as soon as try her on the right she fights against it. Even when I try to feed her from that one first she does does this. (she has always fed better from the left, the right nipple quite often got cracked, poor latch maybe ? Im left handed dont know if this makes a difference, maybe I dont hold her as well on other side)

Is it ok to continue only feeding from the one breast? Im hoping to continue breastfeeding beyond a year, will only feeding from one side affect this ?

Also the side she doesnt feed from no longer gets engorged or feels full even though she isnt feeding from it. Does this mean the milk has gone from that side ? if so what happens if i get an issue with her favourite side ? cracked nipple etc and im unable to feed from it will this mean i cant feed at all ?

This is well within normal for established bf, quark - no need to fight your dd, but just to let her choose :)

Your reasons may be right. Whatever - not a big deal, honest.

With established bf, milk is made pretty much in response to the baby's needs, and each side works more or less independently, so you probably have only a small amount on the 'unfave' side, but if for any reason she went back to it, or you needed to draft it into action, the milk would come back pronto.

I've been feeding from one side only for around 3 months now. DD is now 13 months. All is absolutely fine and plenty of milk etc.

My grandmother fed all 3 babies from one breast, as one nipple was inverted. So, she had problems feeding, so ended up feeding off of one. My aunt, the oldest baby, was fed til she was 8 years old (WII, no milk available at the time).
