My ebf 16 week old DD will not sleep unless my boob is in her mouth! Please help! I don't even think shes feeding I'm certain it's just for comfort. I really didn't want to be but have ended up co sleeping to try and get some sleep but I'm still hardly getting any as she roots and ratches all night and is off on off on etc.

I feel like I'm creating a big crux for her as 90% of the time she will only go to sleep on boob.

I have a 2 year old DD also so the lack of sleep is exhausting :(

I've tried a dummy to no avail she either chews it and spits it out or screams the house down!

I bf DD1 for 9 months and didn't give her a bottle till I started weaning her off the breast but I'm starting to feel like I can't do this much longer.

How is she in herself? Does she cry a lot not like lying down by any chance?

It could be she just has a high need to suck, in which case a bottle won't solve the problem. There could also be an underlying reason for all the sucking, silent reflux or their are other possibilities. I'd pop over to Kelly mom website and have a good read and see if her pattern fits with anything.

Ringing one of the helplines to talk through everything mite help.

Thanks migGrill when she was first born she would not be put down we discussed silent reflux with GP but thought it was moat likely a combination of quick delivery / mucous and needing comfort sure enough once the mucous cleared she improved she will happily lie flat and when I can get her over she sleeps flat. The other thing is her weight gain she was 7 2 at birth and is 11 11 now she has slowly dipped from 25 th to 9 th over the 4 months. I shouldn't compare but DD1 was a chunk always climbing the centiles so I'm not used to this?

Most baby's don't stay on the same groth curb, as long as she is growing is healty and happy a drop down centiles is nothing to worry about. I know it's hard not to but try not to compare with your other one baby's are all different.

I had a small one seconed time, after a first who just pilled the weight on so I know it's hard not to worry as you often just assume the seconed one will be bigger.

The other thing I would try is to get some one who's well trained to look at your latch. Even if it's off just a little she may not be transfering milk as effectivly as she could, just slight ajustments can help a lot sometimes.

Oh and don't worry about the sleeping on the boob, they do all grow out of it. You don't need to do anything to stop it at this age.
