Rachel, can you share some more details?

All 'first stage' formula everywhere is pretty much the same, because of regulations related to ingredients. No brand is 'better' or 'worse' with breastmilk than any other.

What is the reason you are considering adding formula to your baby's milk intake?

Well the main reason is he's so hungry all the time and I'm not pumping enough to satisfy him. Usually get 2 oz per pump and he screams for more. At the mo I'm giving him the breast milk then topping him up with SMA hungrier baby milk but just 2oz of it

is there a reason you are not breastfeeding him directly?

pumping is notorious for not being very effective in getting the milk out.
Direct feeding by baby is much much more efficient.

if you are only pumping, then you need a hospital-grade double pump - ask your health visitor/midwife

how old is your baby btw?

I also wouldnt use hungrier milk especially if your baby is very young. Stage 1 milk would be better as it is not as hard to digest as hungry milk.

More details, please, Rachel :)

How old is your baby? have you checked with HV about using hungrier baby milk? Would you prefer to bf direct rather than pump and top up with formula?

If you want to move onto formula, go ahead. Do what's right for you - no mother should ever feel guilty for the way they feed their baby - you ARE feeding your baby and that's the most important thing.

If you are keen to carry on breastfeeding, the constant feeding can be exhausting, but it's your baby's way of training your body to make more milk. It doesn't mean you're not making enough. My DS did this cluster feeding at around 4 days old and then around every 4 weeks until he was around 8 months old. It can be exhausting, but so long as you're getting lots of wet and dirty nappies, you can be sure that plenty is going in.
