Night feeds....

My DS is 15 weeks and is EBF... Been feeding on demand and all is going well BUT I am after some advice with regard to lengths between night feeds ... He sleeps in a cot beside our bed that has a side removed which means we are close and I don't have to get out of bed to feed. Some nights he is waking every 2 hrs and wanting fed ( last night) and then my DH takes him at 5am and he is still not looking for a feed and it is 10am.... That's 5 hrs... Why can't he do that at night?? Any tips on how I can alter his timings... It makes me think that he is maybe not always hungry every two hrs but maybe needing comfort? He seems to space out his feeds better in the daytime... 3-4hrs which is fine.
Any thoughts/advice welcome... Thanks!

could be a bit if reverse cycling try feeding as much as possible during the day. your also right that it could just be comfort and why not just feed back to sleep if that is what works.

My god we are totally the same here! My 13 week dd easily goes 3 hours between feeds in the day but sometimes wakes every 90 mins at night to feed. No solution but we are in same boat. I offer boob all the time in the day but she doesn't seem that interested. Would rather stare at things!

Have a look for info on 4 month sleep regression on here, someone recommends a book called something like no cry sleep solutions, by someone Pantley I have been using some of the tips (particularly not letting baby fall asleep on the boob!) and have had three nights of better, managable sleep (previous sleeping fine in day but wanting feeds every 90mins/2hours in the night.)! Having read some stuff on the internet re 4 month sleep regression it made a lot of sense re my babys sleep patterns and understanding it has definately helped me with coping with the sleep deprivation :(

We have the same setup, and DS will go max. 2 hours (sometimes only 1!) between feeds if I am next to him, but if I am in the other room and DH is with him, he can usually go for 3 hrs. My theory is that he can smell me.

But 4 month sleep regression sounds v likely.

Could you try putting him to the breast every 2 hours during the daytime (plus whatever else he wants daytime) in the vague hope that he may 'tank up' during 7am-11pm?
