Hi ,
Just switched to aptamil comfort - the helpline said fridging it would mean it didn't work in some way but I know ppl that have and swear by it working ! What are others experiences ? How long did it take to make a difference? Did u rate comfort milk. I have stopped the gaviscon as didn't think it made much difference after a week ! Hope I have done the right thing ....,

Well I did not know about this and store it in the fridge anyway. DS seems to digest it better than the regular one anyway. Since he is on it, the screaming in the evening has greatly been reduced.
The thing is that I don't think the helpline will ever advise you to store formula in the fridge. All of that because of bloody health and safety bollocks I suspect.

I also kept it in the fridge. It does separate though, but a quick shake sorts it out. I have also never heard about not keeping it refrigerated.

DialM is right - the milk companies will never advise you to store feeds for any amount of time because if they advise you to go off script they could get into trouble if you do something ridiculous, like cooling the water in the dog bowl...

(the food hygiene rationale (quick version) is that food is more susceptible to bacterial growth if it is at room temperature, which it will go through when you take it from warm to fridge. In reality it's fine even with baby brain. I made up all feeds in the morning so there was always one ready, kept them up to about 12 hours, DS seems normal...)

talking of baby brain, just realised we're talking about comfort milk (as the title of the thread might suggest, maybe) Blush well hopefully that short rant above will be useful to someone..!

I fed DD cow and gate comfort milk for a year and always kept it in the fridge. Like pp said it does seperate so needs a good shake when you warm it. It made a huge difference to her horrendous colic.

Did anyone find their lo did not drink quite as much when they switched to comfort milk ?

Yes DD drank less of the comfort milk than the ordinary milk. I assumed because its so thick. We also had to change teat size.

another one here that keeps it in the fridge - make them up in the morn for the day feeds and in the evening for the night feeds - seperates but a shake sorts it out. I also kept all DDs milk in fridge (although not comfort milk) and she turned out ok!

The comfort milk has made a real difference for DTs - so would reocmend it for mild reflux and constipation (the reasons they are on comfort milk). However, DD has worse reflux and the Gaviscon did help - you need to use it for a while to make a difference so if you still have problems it might be worth going back to the Gavison and using it for a little longer to see if it helps.
