I have been using cartons butch need to switch to comfort milk so can't get cartons in this. How can I get out and about using the bottles and powdered formula- any good tips / cool bags that will fit 240 ml dr browns in etc ??

Make up the bottles as per instructions on tub, using boiled water that has been cooled to no less than 70 degrees. If you're planning to use within 2 hours, just take in a bottleshaped coolbag - Wilkos sell them. If you need longer, speed chill as many as you need, take out in coolbags and heat by sitting in a little bit of boiling water for 5 mins. Voila Smile

I used to take a thermos with boiling water in and would fill the bottle with 1/3 of feed in cooled boiled water, so for a 240ml feed, 80ml cooled boiled water. I also have a boots formula container. So you just top up the bottle with water from the thermos, add you powder and then cool the bottle as normal.

Hope that helps

Remember that you are boiling the water to kill bugs in the formula, the water does not need 'sterilising'. So if you are adding water it needs to be above 70 degrees.

I use comfort milk and DS does not seem to mind the odd carton every now and then.

I had thought about still using the odd carton of 1st milk. Has your lo got colic? Does it not bother them to have the normal milk occasionally ?

Another comfort milk user here... We use cartons of normal milk if we go out, they don't seem to upset him or undo the good work of the comfort milk :)

Comfort milk users - I just rang aptamil. They said could use the odd carton once settled on comfort for 6 weeks - also said not to fridge the milk as it alters something ... And doesn't work the same. I had been making 2/3 in advance - what did u do about making them ?

Not to fridge the milk? What are you meant to do then, follow the instructions to the letter? Well if you are dealing with a fussy/colicky baby, good luck to you for making him/her wait over 30 mms before he/she gets the feed.
It's so annoying.
Bah, I'll do them in advance and put them in the fridge anyway.
