Basically, just found out I'm pregnant - was wondering why my boobs were sooo painful when DD latched on.

We have tried dropping feeds before but it doesn't work, and she still feeds to sleep and wakes every night for me to get into bed with her and feed all night.

I want an uninterrupted night in my own bed. And I want DD to be able to go to sleep without me - the thing is my mum has had her a couple of times and managed to get her off to sleep, so it is possible!

Any tips? I am feeling a bit wobbly but I think it's for the best - I have explained to her this morning that boobies were going to sleep and put plasters on my nipples!! Blush

I'm pregnant and still breastfeeding my 17 month old. Successfully night-weaned using Dr Jay Gordon's advice here I personally wouldn't recommend going cold turkey unless you have a very easy going toddler (or don't mind dealing with their heartbreak) and your supply is already very low/gone. Mind you I have a toddler who is and always has been a total milk monster and acts like the world is ending if I say no to milk. It is painful and I've suffered awful nursing aversion (but emotionally neither of us are ready to wean) although it's been much more bearable since the colostrum has come through (came in quite late - 24 weeks but I think can be from 18)

if you're determined to quit you will find a way to make it happen - Kellymom may have advice? But being pregnant doesn't mean you have to quit. Good luck and Grin at the plasters!

Thanks for replying NiceCup! I have only just got back on the computer as had to remain standing yesterday (sitting on sofa = breastfeeding to DD!)

DD has always been complete milk monster and no way would I have been able to attempt this at 17 months - but she is now 26 months and it has now been 24 hours since her last feed Shock

I am so surprised - I patted her off to sleep last night, she woke at 3am and I lay down next to her and she had a drink of milk from the beaker and went back off. I stayed with her and she was a bit restless all night but never asked for boobie!!

I guess we were just finally ready!

I went cold turkey with DD when she was 2.6 IIRC she only asked for three nights and didn't make a fuss about it (us usual for her!!)

Good luck :) (and congratulations)
