Bf/solids 13 month old, what does diarrhea look like?

This will be TMI as it involves poo so look away now!

Also I freely admit I am a know-nothing-first-timer.

DD was ebf till 6 months up to which point her poos were yellow and runny. Then I gradually introduced solids and her poos have been very different each day from yellow/runny, to brown and fairly solid.

She currently has a mild cold (runny nose, unsettled, no fever) but I havo clue if she also has diarrhea. Yesterday she pooped 4 times, one yellow runny, two brown runny and one green fairly solid. So what does diarrhea look like at this age/diet? Is it a matter of consistency or frequency?

Sorry for the grossness factor!

Diarrhoea is more watery consistency and frequent throughout the day!! Is she in any discomfort? Is she well in herself? Eating and drinking well, etc? If she is well hydrated then I wouldn't worry!! But the sound of her pattern doesn't seem anything to worry about.

HTH

Thanks!

She is a bit more grumpy than usual and tossing and turning all night long (but her poos are during the day). She is bfing well (yesterday almost exclusively bf, today has been wolfing down solids) so I don't think there is anything to worry about. Just musing about diarrhea really (as you do!)! :)

DS had 'toddler diarrhoea' so sloppy poos were very common. But I always knew when it was proper diarrhoea - the main difference really is it being profuse so copious amounts generally, watery rather than just a bit sloppy, often with an odd smell.

I often found that teething and cold symptoms went together, poos could be a bit sloppier and seemed really acidic - scorched his bottom very quickly and sometimes a bit mucusy. Sorry for TMI Wink

Thanks that's very helpful. Amounts are over the top the last two days and she is teething (yet again!!) but then again she seems to be teething constantly!

Luckily she has no rashes, sore skin, spots, etc. but she does howl when I try to change her diaper (I think she resents being kept still though rather than being in pain as such - she doesn't cry when she passes the motions at all).
