Hi, probably realise this question has been asked many times before but I really need some reviews/suggestions..... I am willing to try absolutely anything including custom made bras.

I am currently pregnant with DC3 and wear a 30J normally so god knows what I will be when I breastfeed. I used to be a 30F prior to children but they just seem to get bigger with each child and despite losing the baby weight the boobs never went back to my perfect 30F.

I spent both breastfeed periods with my first two extremely uncomfortable and self concious due to ill fitting bras but I never found one in a big enough cup for a small back. I made do with the Royce one but to be honest it wasn't great and when your boobs are this big, soft cup just gives you a big mono boob not to mention when you unclip them they just free fall out (not a great look in public!).

So anyone else out there with some words of wisdom. I would love to BF this time past 6 months (as it is my last) but will not do so with out the love and support of a great bra :-)

Many Thanks

I love my Bravado ones so they might be worth a look.

Although I haven't got any of the fancier ones so I'd imagine I do have a monoboob. Blush

They are ridiculously comfy though and the sizes cover a few cup/back sizes to allow for expansion!

Mine only got to F at biggest though...

I got mine here : www.fromheretomaternity.co.uk

You can buy nursing clips and convert your ordinary bras (or cannibalise ill-fitting/worn out ones you already own) providing they fit very well (no wires near breast tissue or cups that are too small/very rigid [which wouldn't allow for the boom and bust of the early days Wink ]) or even just try out some bras in a shop to see if they can be nursed from (try dropping the shoulder strap and 'hoicking' breast out over the top of the cup - I'm not a J but a FF/G and did this for a long while!). I'm sure a friend of mine who is a M cup had proper nursing bras too so they must make them bigger now - I'll ask her where she got hers from and get back to you.

It might be worth having a few softer styles for the early weeks when you do go up and down a lot in between feeds and then switch to altered/ordinary bras when things are a bit more stable.

TruthSweet, that would be great to know where your friend got hers from, have seen some K's & L's but never an M. I also found a lot of the larger cups sizes also start in a larger back size such as 36 which would be too big for me. Do you know where you get nursing clips from?

Jaggythistle, I had the bravado ones in my last pregnancy and found them Ok for sleeping in at night but would not dare venture out of the house in them. Really need ones that lift and seperate ;-)

Thanks ladies.

I went to 34H with feeding my girls... I went into Bravissimo and they had a slection I could try on, Panache was my favorite brand. Fit well and while a BF bra so not the sexiest was way better than the 'typical' and not monobreast bra I was finding otherwise.

Mombojombo · 02/07/2012 15:09

I quite like the Panache ones from Bravissimo too (I'm a 30 or 32HH depending on the bra so sympathise with the small-back-but-big-boobs thing).

TruthSweet · 02/07/2012 16:26

You can get converter clips and instructions here (I am sure there other suppliers too). My friend was a 36 M though so the range she bought from may not go down to a 30 (you could always do what I did many moons ago when you couldn't get 30D bras - I bought 32B or 32C bras and altered the backs to fit)

KatAndKit · 02/07/2012 16:41

I have the bravado ++ but I am currently a G/GG in bras with cup sizes so I would expect even the bravado would be too small for you. Royce go up to really big sizes I believe, you should try to get to a bravissimo shop or a large John Lewis and see if they can help you.

babyblabber · 02/07/2012 18:02

i was a 30F before having DS but a 36/38GG when breastfeeding. your back expand to make room for your lungs and as you go up a back size you can go down a cup size so they fit well. went down to 30D when finished but now am feeding DD who's 3 weeks and haven't been measured but my 38GG bras fit again.

i love the anita bras with underwire that's ok for breastfeeding.

ticklebug74 · 03/07/2012 19:36

Thanks all, need to order some and experiment again I think. I never found I went up more than one back size to a 32 with my last two but perhaps I will try a 34 or 36 and see how it fits. And thanks TruthSweet, am going to order those clips too.

Just to give you all a laugh I emailed Rigby & Peller as someone recommended their made to measure service - but at £305 a bra think I would prefer the monoboob!!!!

maybe still not big enough, but some 30J's, and 32L here

shattereddreams · 03/07/2012 20:08

Try Anita
But they arent sold in many places. Even figleaves don't have their full range.
Start on their website and looks for suppliers or website you can shop from

Killergerbil · 03/07/2012 20:10

Bravissimo sorted out my 28 J ers!

TruthSweet · 03/07/2012 20:10

My friend has said she got by with Royce Jasmin (Jasmine?) as they went up to an L. They go down to a 32L (ha 'down'!) and seem to come in white, nude and black. Not the most thrilling bra in the world but it's not £300!

HeadsShouldersKneesandToes · 03/07/2012 20:12

Contact your local NCT - my local branch had a BF consultant who doubled as a bra agent - I was able to go round to her house, much calmer than a commercial shop, try on lots of bras, I bought two and the one she had in the colour I wanted in stock I was able to take right away, the other she only had in flesh-colour which I'm not a fan of, and she arranged next-day delivery, all very easy and newborn DS slept through the whole thing.

marriednotdead · 04/07/2012 21:26

The Royce Jasmine seems to still be on their old sizing scale (skips double letters) so an L is only really a HH Hmm

If you find both the Royce Charlotte and Sadie unsupportive then you are limited to buying a better shaped style with a bigger band and taking it in.

Suggestions- Freya Dotty, Hotmilk Eclipse and Elomi smoothing (3912).

ticklebug74 · 04/07/2012 21:50

Ah so that is why I never fitted even the biggest bras. I will go down the route of bigger back and take it in - thanks for all the info.

Tried the NCT last time and even there biggest was horrible for me.
