Pinching feeling in my neck whilst breastfeeding

Sounds a bit bizarre I know and only used to be a occasional thing but seems like everytime I feed DD on right boob, I get this horrible pinching feeling in that side of my neck.

DD is now a year so tends to pinch the boob with her hands when feeding.
The feeling lasts for ages afterwards as well.
Any ideas what it could be?

Hmmmm... I used to get loads of neck pain when I first started bf, but it ironed itself out as I tweaked positioning and truly relaxed.

Only thing I can suggest is going back to basics. Make sure you're comfortable before starting to feed and find a way to feed that doesn't alter your comfortable posture. Do you crane your neck to look down at DD while she's feeding? Pinching sounds like a trapped nerve sort of pain. I've got one of those wheat-filled microwave neck pillows - could you get something similar to keep your muscles nice and warm and flexible?

In fact, treat yourself to a lovely massage! Mothers carry tension in all sorts of places through feeding, favouring a certain side when picking up or holding our babies, and all-purpose hard blinking work!

And yes, the pinching, slapping and pummelling is very wearing. I sometimes wear beads or a pendant to distract DS but he tries to get them in his mouth as well as boob so it all gets a bit cramped!

Be nice to yourself. Treat it as a sports injury and accept all the neck-rubs any willing friends/family may be coerced into offer.

Thanks mombojombo I hadn't really considered my positioning.
We are in quite a small chair to feed in her room so prob not the most comfy I could be

Massages sound like an excellent idea also Grin
