Freezing breast milk

Anyone got any expertise with freezing breast milk? I am using the avent pump and bottles and I want to freeze some to use over christmas - he takes AGES to feed from the breast and I don't want to miss anything!! Can I freeze the milk in one of the standard bottles or do I need anything special? Then can I just leave it to defrost in the fridge and warm up as usual?

Lisa 78, I express milk when I'm at work for dd2, who's at nursery 3 days a week. I freeze the milk in the 4oz Avent bottles (with the white rubber bit over the end instead of a teat), in fact I bought 4 of them in a box from john lewis the other day which were sold as 'breast milk bottles' for freezing. I also use avent/playtex bags with clips (avent) to freeze odd ounces as well. I either leave it out to defrost or put the bag/bottle in some hot water in a jug to defrost quickly on nursery days. I don't warm up dd's milk, but if you use the bags you mustn't put them in the microwave as they might explode. I suppose you could just use a jug of hot water to do the heating if you need it. hth.
