fast letdown and spluttering baby

does it calm down after a while? DD is 2 weeks old and for the past 2 days has been spluttering and screaming at the beginning of feeds due to fast letdown. she'll come off the boob, and milk is just gushing everywhere, which is, um, sticky.

I have been feeding reclined when possible, and letting DS feed first sometimes to slow it down, but didn't have this problem last time, so am not sure if/when it will resolve itself!

Mine definitely calmed down! I also found popping DS off, expressing a bit and then bunging him back on helped

sometimes I just took DS off for 5 mins and caught it in a mixing bowl, classy lady that I am

Ye I had massive over supply and gushing let down and major leaking then one day when my dd was about 8 weeks everything just settled down. Its amazing how your body just sorts it all out for you!

I found I had way more milk with ds2, I assume this is because I was tandemming.

You're right, leaning back and getting your ds to feed first is the way forward.

DS1 used to love being asked to help out. He was old enough to understand that he was only to take a bit of the milk and leave the rest for ds2! I think it made him feel helpful Smile

It does calm down/ they learn to deal.

We found laying down feedings helped. Also I expressed/caught milk just before let down (I could feel the tingling and knew it was abt to happen so would quick pop her off) She was not happy with me for ages either if I popped her off or left her on... but we got thru and now at 10m it's not troubling her any longer.
