Avent bottles and other brand teats and leaving dd for hospital treatment

Hello!

Am trying really hard to get my 13 week old dd to take a bottle of ebm...problem is i'm going out on tuesday for the afternoon (guilt, guilt, guilt) and leaving her with my dm who will tell me in great detail how dd screamed when trying to give bottle...which she will...

also, am going to have to go into hospital for gall stone removal - ouch - anyone else had that? (panic and huge huge stress at leaving dd with others to look after - can't quite see how will cope with that, but that's a different one!) so dd simply HAS to have bottles of ebm whilst i'm in there (planning to continue bf on release).

anyway, question is - dd won't take avent teats at the moment - are there any that anyone else would recommend and can they be used with avent bottles? and has anyone else been forced into leaving baby at hands of others for medical reasons?

Thanks....

Hattie, have CAT'ed you. Don't know if anyone is around to pass the message on, might be tomorrow!

CHeers chipmonkey - will get in touch as soon as get it - you're a star - the crying has at last stopped, but there's no milk gone from the bottle - stubborn little thing!!!!

Another thing that worked was walking around with ds3 facing away from me while I sang Bye Bye Miss American Pie! Warming the teat was also good!

another vote for Playtex here - works every time in my experience - if you don't like disposables the teat on the ventaire bottle is also quite good. Also look on the site chipmonkey put a link to under breastfeeding support some good tips for getting baby from breast to bottle and back again.
sister in law just had gall bladder op - really no probs at all in an out overnight and DH fed baby for the few feeds she missed.........would also suggest talking to nursing staff they are generally good about BF mums - its whether you will feel up to it after the anaesthetic.

Forgot to say, hattie, I had a general anaesthetic for my CS after having ds3 and was ableto express straight away. He was 8 weeks prem.

YOU ARE ALL HEAVEN SENT - THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL THE ADVICE!!!!!! chipmonkey - i tried singing twinkle twinkle to her then decided it might scar her for life and send her into a decline if she ever heard the tune she would descend inot hysteria - can just see it now...the end of term concert at play group and my dd reaches for the happy pills because she has to hear twinkle twinkle after her mother sang it to her whilst inflicting the dreaded bottle on her at 13 weeks....bonkers!!!!!!

Hattie, just realised I have a playtex nurser at home, never used, if you want me to put that in too.Might be an old model but would take the Naturallatch teat.
